Mechotech engineers complete, turnkey hemp/CBD and cannabinoid extraction and isolation plants for licensed processors — taking dried biomass all the way through to full-spectrum, broad-spectrum or isolate-grade cannabinoid product. The line brings together Mechotech's own proven equipment at every stage: milling, supercritical CO₂ (SCFE) extraction, winterization and dewaxing, ethanol recovery, short-path / molecular distillation, preparative HPLC purification, and nutsche filtration or freeze drying. Because Mechotech designs and builds each unit, the whole plant is matched, integrated and supported by a single partner. This is process equipment supplied to legally licensed hemp and cannabinoid processors; Mechotech manufactures the plant, not the botanical product.
Manufacturing Process
Biomass Preparation
Dried hemp/cannabis biomass is milled to a uniform particle size so the extraction solvent can penetrate the bed evenly.
Supercritical CO₂ Extraction
A Mechotech SCFE plant extracts a solvent-free cannabinoid-rich crude paste from the milled biomass at low temperature, protecting cannabinoids and terpenes.
Winterization & Dewaxing
The crude is dissolved in ethanol and chilled, then filtered to remove waxes, fats and lipids, giving a clarified extract.
Ethanol Recovery
A rotary evaporator removes and recovers the ethanol under vacuum, concentrating the winterized crude oil.
Distillation
Short-path / molecular distillation refines the crude into a full-spectrum or broad-spectrum cannabinoid distillate at low temperature.
Chromatographic Isolation
For isolate grade, preparative HPLC with DAC columns separates CBD from THC and minor cannabinoids to high purity.
Crystallization & Drying
The purified cannabinoid fraction is crystallized and dried on a nutsche filter dryer or freeze dryer to a stable, high-purity powder.
Solvent Recovery (Optional)
Spent ethanol and HPLC solvents are reclaimed on matched recovery equipment for reuse, cutting operating cost and waste.

SCFE – Supercritical CO2 Extraction Plant
Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey supercritical CO₂ (SCFE) extraction plants that use carbon dioxide above its critical point as a clean, tunable, solvent-free extraction medium. Supercritical CO₂ combines gas-like penetration with liquid-like solvent power, so it dissolves target compounds from a botanical bed at low temperature and then releases them completely when the pressure is dropped — leaving a residue-free, high-purity extract. Industrial Rotary Evaporator
Mechotech manufactures industrial, large-capacity rotary evaporators for gentle solvent removal and concentration in peptide, pharmaceutical and natural-product processing. A rotating evaporation flask spreads the liquid into a thin, constantly renewed film over a heated bath, so solvent evaporates quickly at a mild temperature under vacuum and is recovered by an efficient condenser. Wetted parts are built in borosilicate glass and PTFE to stand up to aggressive and corrosive solvents, and evaporation flasks are offered in 50 L and 100 L sizes for pilot and production duty. Units run under vacuum or at atmospheric pressure and can be supplied EX-proof and in GMP or non-GMP configurations.

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey short path distillation units — also called molecular distillation units — that separate and purify heat-sensitive or high-boiling compounds under high vacuum. Unlike conventional distillation, which relies on differences in boiling point, short path distillation exploits the short mean free path of vapour molecules: the heated evaporator and the condenser sit only a short distance apart, so evaporating molecules travel straight to the condenser with minimal residence time and thermal stress. This gentle, low-temperature route is used to refine essential oils, remove terpenes, and purify high-value botanical actives to isolate and crystal grade for the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, food, flavour and fragrance industries.

Industrial Preparative HPLC (DAC) System
Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey industrial preparative HPLC systems built on dynamic axial compression (DAC) columns for kilogram-scale purification of active pharmaceutical ingredients and peptides. A DAC column uses a hydraulic piston to keep the packed bed compressed at all times, so the stationary phase stays homogeneous and stable under high flow — the key to reproducible, scalable separations at production volume. Because these processes run large volumes of flammable organic solvents, Mechotech builds the system to EX-proof standards throughout, with fully automated valve control, forward/back/bypass wash modes, high-pressure safety valves and 21 CFR Part 11 compliant software. It is engineered as a complete process skid — DAC column, multi-solvent inlet, high-pressure pumps, detection, automatic fraction collection, slurry tank and auxiliaries — for commercial pharmaceutical, peptide and fine-chemical manufacturing.

Preparative Chromatography Columns & Packing Systems
Mechotech designs and manufactures preparative chromatography columns and the electrically-driven packing systems that fill them, engineered for peptide, protein, API and natural-product purification. Built around a recyclable, spring-loaded dynamic-axial-compression (DAC) design, each column holds the packed bed under constant, uniform pressure so it stays stable, homogeneous and efficient wash after wash. Available in internal diameters from 25 to 200 mm with adjustable bed lengths of roughly 5 to 40 cm, the columns are compatible with silica and polymeric media across every common separation mode. The matched packing station compresses the bed electrically — with no compressed gas — for a safe, repeatable, high-density pack every time.
