Manufacturing Process

Biomass Preparation

Dried hemp/cannabis biomass is milled to a uniform particle size so the extraction solvent can penetrate the bed evenly.

Supercritical CO₂ Extraction

A Mechotech SCFE plant extracts a solvent-free cannabinoid-rich crude paste from the milled biomass at low temperature, protecting cannabinoids and terpenes.

Winterization & Dewaxing

The crude is dissolved in ethanol and chilled, then filtered to remove waxes, fats and lipids, giving a clarified extract.

Ethanol Recovery

A rotary evaporator removes and recovers the ethanol under vacuum, concentrating the winterized crude oil.

Distillation

Short-path / molecular distillation refines the crude into a full-spectrum or broad-spectrum cannabinoid distillate at low temperature.

Chromatographic Isolation

For isolate grade, preparative HPLC with DAC columns separates CBD from THC and minor cannabinoids to high purity.

Crystallization & Drying

The purified cannabinoid fraction is crystallized and dried on a nutsche filter dryer or freeze dryer to a stable, high-purity powder.

Solvent Recovery (Optional)

Spent ethanol and HPLC solvents are reclaimed on matched recovery equipment for reuse, cutting operating cost and waste.

Industrial Rotary Evaporator

Mechotech manufactures industrial, large-capacity rotary evaporators for gentle solvent removal and concentration in peptide, pharmaceutical and natural-product processing. A rotating evaporation flask spreads the liquid into a thin, constantly renewed film over a heated bath, so solvent evaporates quickly at a mild temperature under vacuum and is recovered by an efficient condenser. Wetted parts are built in borosilicate glass and PTFE to stand up to aggressive and corrosive solvents, and evaporation flasks are offered in 50 L and 100 L sizes for pilot and production duty. Unlike conventional distillation, which relies on differences in boiling point, short path distillation exploits the short mean free path of vapour molecules: the heated evaporator and the condenser sit only a short distance apart, so evaporating molecules travel straight to the condenser with minimal residence time and thermal stress.
