Seeds & Berries Extraction Plants

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey seeds & berries extraction plants as part of its solvent extraction (alcohol and aqueous) range, supplying the complete machinery train engineered around each feedstock and target specification. The range covers two raw materials: [Ambrette Seed](/products/ambrette-seed) (Abelmoschus moschatus), extracted for fine perfumery and fragrance use, and [Vanilla](/products/vanilla) (Vanilla planifolia), where cured vanilla beans are processed into vanilla extract and oleoresin for food, beverage, flavour and fragrance buyers.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Reception & Preparation

Ambrette seed is authenticated, moisture-tested and milled to a uniform particle size. Cured vanilla beans are inspected for moisture, flexibility, aroma and visual quality, then chopped or milled. Vanilla curing is completed upstream by the grower or a curing facility and is not part of the extraction plant scope.

2

Solvent Extraction

The prepared material is extracted in closed, jacketed SS 316L vessels under controlled temperature over multiple cycles: food-grade alcohol / aqueous solvent for ambrette seed, and percolation or hydro-alcoholic extraction for vanilla.

3

Filtration

The extract is clarified through a plate-and-frame filter press followed by cartridge polish filters to remove fibre and particulate.

4

Concentration & Solvent Recovery

The filtered extract is concentrated in a falling-film / vacuum evaporator under reduced pressure, with solvent recovered through the closed-loop condenser return system for reuse. On the vanilla line this step is used for oleoresin grade.

5

Standardisation & Finishing

Ambrette seed concentrate is assayed, adjusted to the declared target specification and spray- or vacuum-dried. Vanilla is assayed for vanillin content by HPLC and graded as a liquid extract or oleoresin to the buyer's specification.

6

Quality Control

Each batch is released after assay, residual-solvent, heavy-metal, microbial and moisture testing, with certificate-of-analysis documentation.

Applications

  • Fine perfumery and fragrance
  • Fixative use in fragrance formulations
  • Food, bakery, and confectionery flavour applications
  • Beverage and dairy (ice cream, yoghurt) flavouring
  • Nutraceutical and functional-food flavour masking
  • Flavour-house vanilla extract and oleoresin supply

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

Electropolished, CIP-cleanable SS 316L product-contact surfaces on every plant in the range, with GMP, HACCP and FSSAI hygienic design on the vanilla line for food-grade output.

  • Closed-Loop Solvent Recovery

Integrated condenser-return recovery reuses solvent between batches and reduces solvent loss.

  • Standardised to Buyer Specification

Ambrette seed extract is standardised to the declared target specification; vanilla extract and oleoresin are graded by HPLC-assayed vanillin content.

  • Flexible Finished Form

A free-flowing dried powder for ambrette seed, and a liquid alcoholic extract or concentrated oleoresin for vanilla, from the same extraction line.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which products are in the Seeds & Berries Extraction Plants range?
The range has 2 product pages: Ambrette Seed and Vanilla. Open a product page for the details Mechotech lists for that product.
Which applications do the Seeds & Berries Extraction Plants product pages list?
Ambrette Seed: Fine perfumery and fragrance; Fixative use. Vanilla: Food, bakery, and confectionery flavour applications; Beverage and dairy (ice cream, yoghurt) flavouring; Fragrance and perfumery formulations; Nutraceutical and functional-food flavour masking.
What extraction method do these plants use?
Both lines use solvent extraction in closed, jacketed SS 316L extractors. Ambrette seed is extracted with food-grade alcohol / aqueous solvent over multiple cycles. Cured, chopped vanilla pods are processed by percolation or hydro-alcoholic extraction. Both are followed by filtration, vacuum concentration and closed-loop solvent recovery.
How does this range differ from Seeds & Berries Distillation Plants?
This range covers solvent extraction into extracts and oleoresins. Mechotech's Seeds & Berries Distillation Plants are a separate range that distil seeds into essential oil and hydrosol; for example, Ambrette Seeds has its own distillation line.
Does the vanilla plant include curing?
No. Green vanilla beans are cured (fermented, sweated and conditioned) by the grower or a dedicated curing facility before extraction. Mechotech's plant processes cured beans, and can advise on receiving and inspection criteria for cured bean quality.
What production capacities are available?
Capacity is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale. A pilot run is recommended to validate process parameters before scaling, particularly for vanilla, where flavour complexity varies with bean origin and curing quality.
Does Mechotech supply the complete plant?
Yes. Mechotech supplies each seeds & berries extraction plant as a complete turnkey system: engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system.
