Synthesis Reactor Reaction / Synthesis Equipment — Mechotech

Synthesis Reactor

A synthesis reactor is an agitated reaction vessel in which a chemical synthesis is carried out in a single vessel under monitored conditions. Mechotech engineers and manufactures the Synthesis Reactor as turnkey process equipment in SS 316L (or a process-appropriate grade) for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food and botanical process lines. Mechotech’s illustration labels a reagent inlet, a vent / off-gas connection, jacket inlet and outlet connections and a product outlet, with a pressure gauge and a sight window on the vessel, and a control panel offering automated operation, temperature control, pressure monitoring, agitation control, data logging and reports, and CIP / SIP readiness. The unit is designed around the client’s reaction, then fabricated, installed and commissioned by Mechotech as a single scope.

The Synthesis Reactor is an agitated, jacketed vessel in SS 316L (or a process-appropriate grade) with electropolished product-contact surfaces and integrated instrumentation, so the reaction can be monitored and controlled through the batch and the vessel cleaned afterward, under PLC-based control. The jacket carries a heating or cooling medium that is configured to the process. Capacity is configured to the customer’s requirement, from pilot-scale systems for process validation to larger commercial installations with modular expansion, and every unit is delivered with full documentation to support GMP qualification. The synthesis chemistry, temperature and pressure range are set by the client and confirmed in design.

Manufacturing Process

1

Reagent Charging

Reagents and solvents are charged through the reagent inlet as the recipe requires.

2

Agitation & Temperature Control

The agitator keeps the batch mixed while a heating or cooling medium in the jacket brings the batch to, and holds it at, the reaction temperature.

3

Reaction Under Monitoring

The reaction runs with temperature, pressure and agitation monitored and controlled from the PLC panel; any gases leave through the vent / off-gas connection.

4

Discharge

The reacted batch is discharged through the product outlet.

5

Cleaning

The vessel is cleaned between batches through its CIP connections; SIP readiness is listed on the illustration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete Synthesis Reactor?
Yes. Mechotech is a process equipment manufacturer and supplier, engineering and fabricating the complete Synthesis Reactor at our Hyderabad facility, installing and commissioning it as a single integrated system, with documentation to support GMP qualification. Final parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What capacities are available for the Synthesis Reactor?
Mechotech builds the Synthesis Reactor from pilot units for process validation to larger commercial installations. Vessel or unit size, duty and ancillaries are configured to the confirmed throughput or batch size; we recommend a pilot unit to validate parameters before scaling.
Which industries use the Synthesis Reactor?
The uses listed on this page are given under Applications. The industry, the feed and the target output are confirmed with the client before the equipment is configured.
What is a synthesis reactor and when is it used?
A synthesis reactor is an agitated vessel, here with a jacket, used to carry out a chemical synthesis in a single vessel under controlled temperature, agitation and pressure. It is used where reagents are charged, reacted to a recipe and discharged as a batch.
How does the Synthesis Reactor differ from the Synthesiser?
The Synthesis Reactor is the single reaction vessel. The Synthesiser is an integrated reactor, condenser and receiver skid with a feed tank for in-situ distillation and solvent recovery in one connected system. Peptide synthesis is covered separately on the Peptide Synthesiser and Industrial Peptide Synthesiser pages. Confirm which one is wanted.
How does it differ from the other reactors Mechotech lists?
The Chemical Reactor is the general agitated reaction vessel, the Jacketed Reactor concentrates on jacketed temperature control, the Stainless Steel Reactor is the fully stainless-steel vessel, the Glass-Lined Reactor adds a glass surface for aggressive acids and alkalis and the High-Pressure Reactor is pressure-rated. The choice is made against the actual chemistry and operating conditions.
What controls and connections does it have?
As labelled on Mechotech’s illustration, the vessel has a reagent inlet, a vent / off-gas connection, jacket inlet and outlet connections and a product outlet, with a control panel listing automated operation, temperature control, pressure monitoring, agitation control, data logging and reports, and CIP / SIP readiness. The final configuration is set to the client’s reaction.
What information is needed to specify a Synthesis Reactor?
To configure the equipment Mechotech needs the reaction chemistry and the materials involved, including how corrosive they are, the batch size, the temperature and pressure range, the heating or cooling medium available, whether gases are evolved and vented, whether vapour must be condensed, and the hygiene and documentation requirements. A pilot unit is recommended before scaling.
