Chemical Reactor Reaction / Synthesis Equipment — Mechotech

Chemical Reactor

Mechotech engineers and manufactures the Chemical Reactor as turnkey process equipment for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, and botanical processing lines that carry out chemical reactions and mixing duties at process scale. Each unit is designed around the client's specific process parameters and target output, then fabricated, installed, and commissioned by Mechotech as a single accountable scope.

The Chemical Reactor is built in SS 316L (or a process-appropriate grade) as an agitated reaction vessel with electropolished product-contact surfaces and integrated instrumentation, so raw materials can be mixed, reacted, and processed under monitored conditions and the vessel cleaned in place between batches, under PLC-based control. Capacity is configured to the customer's requirement, from pilot-scale systems for process validation to larger commercial installations with modular expansion, and every unit is delivered with full documentation to support GMP and regulatory qualification.

Technical Specifications

ProductChemical Reactor
TypeAgitated reaction vessel
Working PrincipleReactants are charged to an agitated, jacketed vessel; agitation keeps the batch mixed while a heating or cooling medium in the jacket controls temperature, and the PLC and instrumentation hold the batch to the recipe (general working principle; the final design is set to the client’s process)
Product-contact MaterialSS 316L (or a process-appropriate grade)
Surface FinishElectropolished
CleaningClean-in-place (CIP)
AutomationPLC-based control with integrated instrumentation
CapacityConfigured to requirement — pilot to commercial, with modular expansion
DocumentationFull documentation to support GMP and regulatory qualification
ConnectionsRaw-material inlet, vapour outlet, jacket inlet and outlet, and product outlet, as labelled on the product illustration
Temperature ControlJacketed vessel with jacket inlet and outlet, as shown on the product illustration; heating or cooling medium configured to the process
Control FunctionsRecipe-based operation, temperature control, pressure monitoring, agitation control, data logging and reports; CIP / SIP-ready as an option (as listed on the product illustration)

Plant Capacities

Plant ScaleVessel CapacityTypical Use
PilotConfigured to your process and trial planProcess development, parameter validation
Semi-CommercialConfigured between pilot and commercial scaleScale-up trials, contract manufacturing

Vessel capacity is configured to the client’s process and batch size; a pilot unit is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.

Manufacturing Process

1

Engineering & Design

Mechotech's process engineers size and configure the Chemical Reactor around the client's reaction chemistry, batch size, and target output specification before fabrication begins.

2

Fabrication & Assembly

The reaction vessel and agitator assembly are fabricated in SS 316L (or a process-appropriate grade), with instrumentation and control automation integrated during assembly rather than added afterward.

3

Operation: Charging, Reaction and Discharge

In service, raw materials are charged through the raw-material inlet and agitated; the jacket heats or cools the batch under recipe control, vapour leaves through the vapour outlet to a condenser where the process needs one, and the finished batch is discharged through the product outlet, as labelled on the product illustration.

4

Installation & Commissioning

The completed system is installed at the client's site, and commissioned as a single accountable unit before handover.

Major Plant Equipment

  • Agitated reaction vessel (SS 316L or process-appropriate grade)
  • Agitator and drive
  • Jacket for heating or cooling
  • Instrumentation (pressure gauge, temperature and pressure monitoring)
  • PLC-based control panel
  • Clean-in-place (CIP) connections

Applications

  • Pharmaceutical and nutraceutical process manufacturing
  • Botanical and herbal extraction industries
  • Food and flavour processing
  • Fine, specialty and bulk chemical processing (as stated on the product illustration)

Key Features

  • Hygienic Construction

Electropolished product-contact surfaces, with the vessel cleaned in place (CIP) between batches and full documentation to support GMP qualification.

  • Turnkey Engineering

Design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning are delivered as one accountable scope, so the client deals with a single engineering team from drawing to handover.

  • Scalable Capacity

The reactor is sized to the customer's requirement, from pilot-scale validation through to commercial capacity, with modular expansion as production grows.

  • Jacketed Temperature Control

A jacket with inlet and outlet connections lets a heating or cooling medium control batch temperature during the reaction.

  • Instrumented, Recipe-Based Control

Temperature, pressure and agitation are monitored and controlled from the PLC panel, with recipe-based operation and data logging as listed on the product illustration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete Chemical Reactor?
Yes. Mechotech is a process equipment manufacturer and supplier, engineering and fabricating the complete Chemical Reactor at our Hyderabad facility, then installing and commissioning it as a single accountable system.
What capacities are available for the Chemical Reactor?
Capacity for the Chemical Reactor is configured to the client’s process, batch size and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot unit is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which industries use the Chemical Reactor?
The end-use areas listed for the Chemical Reactor are given under Applications. The end use and the target specification are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
Which Mechotech reactor page should I use?
The Chemical Reactor is the general agitated reaction vessel. Mechotech lists specialised reactor pages separately: the Glass-Lined Reactor has a fused glass lining for resistance to acids and alkalis, the High-Pressure Reactor is pressure-rated for reactions above atmospheric pressure, and the Jacketed Reactor, Process Reactor, Stainless Steel Reactor and Synthesis Reactor cover heating or cooling control, general mixing and holding duties, a fully stainless-steel vessel and chemical synthesis respectively.
What controls and connections does the Chemical Reactor have?
As labelled on the product illustration, the reactor has a raw-material inlet, vapour outlet, jacket inlet and outlet and a product outlet, with a control system offering recipe-based operation, temperature control, pressure monitoring, agitation control and data logging, and CIP / SIP readiness as an option. The final configuration is set to the client’s process.
What information is needed to size and specify a Chemical Reactor?
To configure the vessel Mechotech needs the reaction chemistry and the materials involved (including how corrosive they are, which decides the material of construction), the batch size, the temperature and pressure range, the heating or cooling medium available, the mixing duty, whether vapour must be condensed or recovered, and the hygiene and documentation requirements of the plant. A pilot unit is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
What does the jacket do on a Chemical Reactor?
The jacket is a second shell around the vessel through which a heating or cooling medium circulates, so the batch temperature can be raised, held or reduced without opening the vessel. Where a reaction involves aggressive acids or alkalis the Glass-Lined Reactor is the page to review, and where it must run above atmospheric pressure the High-Pressure Reactor.
