Manufacturing Process

Raw Material Preparation

Raw material is cleaned, sorted, and (where required) milled to the optimal particle size to maximise extraction efficiency.

Supercritical CO2 Extraction

Prepared material is charged into the high-pressure SS 316L extraction vessel, where CO2 is pressurised and heated past its critical point to act as a solvent-free extraction medium, drawing out the target oil.

Separation

The CO2-oil mixture is passed to a separator vessel where pressure is reduced, causing the CO2 to revert to gas and release the extracted oil.

CO2 Recovery & Recirculation

Released CO2 gas is recompressed, condensed, and recirculated back into the extraction cycle, minimising solvent consumption.

Collection & Quality Control

The extracted oil is collected and each batch verified by GC-MS and physical parameters (specific gravity, refractive index) before release.

What is the difference between a CO2 extraction plant and a distillation or oleoresin extraction plant?
A CO2 extraction plant uses supercritical carbon dioxide as a solvent-free extraction medium under high pressure, rather than steam/hydro distillation (used for essential oils) or food-grade organic solvents (used for oleoresins). It is a distinct process and equipment train from both. What is supercritical CO2 (SCFE) extraction?
It is an extraction method that uses carbon dioxide held above its critical point (about 31°C and 7.4 MPa). In this supercritical state CO2 flows through a botanical bed like a gas but dissolves compounds like a liquid, then leaves no residue when the pressure is released — producing a clean, high-purity extract. Why choose CO2 extraction over conventional solvent extraction?
CO2 extraction is solvent-free and residue-free, runs at low temperature to protect heat-sensitive actives and aromas, and its selectivity can be tuned by pressure and temperature. That makes it well suited to premium food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and fragrance ingredients where purity and quality are critical.
