Lavender Flower Linalyl Acetate (CO₂)

Extraction Technologies

Supercritical CO₂ Extraction (SCFE)

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey extraction plants that process lavender flowers to recover linalyl acetate. We supply the machinery for the route selected after screening — raw-material preparation, extraction, separation, concentration or recovery, and drying or collection — configured to the target specification. Mechotech's technology screening identifies one candidate route for this feedstock: Supercritical CO₂ Extraction (SCFE) (exploratory screening, rank 98 of 100 in that technology's screening).

For lavender flowers with linalyl acetate as the target, there is one candidate technology: Supercritical CO₂ Extraction (SCFE). By route — Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE): exploratory screening, rank 98 of 100, CO₂; optional ethanol modifier. For the best-ranked route, Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE), the screening flags: nonpolar fraction preferred; polar targets may need modifier and separate validation. These are screening candidates rather than guarantees: the final technology, operating parameters and plant configuration are established during process development and pilot validation. Product-contact parts are built in SS 316L with CIP-cleanable design, and automation is configured to the project.

Manufacturing Process

Each extraction method follows a different process — pick a method to see its steps.

1

Raw-Material Conditioning

Lavender flowers are cleaned and conditioned so linalyl acetate is accessible to supercritical CO₂; moisture and particle size are set during process development.

2

Extraction Vessel Loading

Conditioned lavender flowers are charged into the high-pressure extraction vessel.

3

Supercritical CO₂ Extraction

Supercritical CO₂ passes through the charge and dissolves linalyl acetate; an ethanol modifier can be evaluated where polar fractions are also required, and operating pressure and temperature are set in process development.

4

Separator Collection

Pressure is reduced in separator stages so the extracted linalyl acetate drops out of the CO₂ and is collected.

5

CO₂ Recycle

Gaseous CO₂ is re-liquefied and recirculated to the extractor, limiting make-up gas demand.

6

Finishing & Packing

The collected linalyl acetate is polished by filtration as needed and packed to the required specification.

Key Features

  • Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE) — Exploratory Screening Fit

Best-ranked route for lavender flowers: rank 98 of 100 in Mechotech's supercritical CO₂ extraction screening, using CO₂; optional ethanol modifier. Ranks are directional screening priorities, not measured yield, ROI or plant guarantees.

  • Single Candidate Route

Routes screened for lavender flowers: Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE) — exploratory, rank 98. The process tab above shows the steps for this route.

  • Flowers Feed Form

The candidate routes are defined for lavender flowers; feedstock assay and moisture are measured as pilot inputs and the feed form is set during process development.

  • Parameters Fixed After Pilot Trials

Recovery of linalyl acetate, selectivity, solvent or water duty, quality and cleaning are measured in pilot trials, starting with small-scale feed trials, before final plant parameters are fixed.

  • SS 316L Hygienic Construction

Product-contact surfaces are SS 316L and CIP-cleanable, in a hygienic design suited to food, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical supply chains; PLC-SCADA automation with recipe control can be configured to the project scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a lavender flower extraction plant for linalyl acetate?
It is a turnkey Mechotech plant that processes lavender flowers to recover linalyl acetate. The plant covers raw-material preparation, extraction, separation, concentration or fraction collection, and drying or packing, and is configured to the target specification. It sits within Mechotech's wider range of CO₂ extraction plants.
Which plant part or feed form does the lavender flower plant process?
The candidate feedstock is lavender flowers. The target extract is linalyl acetate.
Which extraction technology is suitable for lavender flowers?
The candidate technology for this feedstock is Supercritical CO₂ Extraction (SCFE) (exploratory screening). See the related pages on supercritical CO₂ extraction. These are screening candidates, not guarantees of yield, purity or recovery; the route is confirmed through process development and pilot validation. In Mechotech's technology screening, Supercritical CO₂ Extraction (rank 98 of 100) is ranked directionally as an exploratory candidate. Ranks are directional screening priorities at method-family level, not measured yield, ROI or plant guarantees.
How does Mechotech's screening rank the candidate route for lavender flowers?
Each technology list in Mechotech's screening ranks 100 feedstock–target opportunities (1 = highest priority). For lavender flowers: Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE) rank 98 (exploratory). Ranks are directional screening priorities, not measured yield, ROI or plant guarantees, and the evidence is at method-family level, so every route needs pilot validation.
How does the lavender flower extraction process work?
Each listed route has its own steps — Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE): Extraction Vessel Loading → Supercritical CO₂ Extraction → Separator Collection. All routes share the same outline: prepare lavender flowers, extract linalyl acetate using the technology-specific step, separate and clarify the extract, concentrate it, and recover, standardise and dry. The process tabs above show every step.
What equipment does the lavender flower extraction plant include?
The equipment follows the selected route and includes raw-material cleaning and size-reduction system; supercritical CO₂ extraction vessels; CO₂ pump, heat exchangers and chiller; separator vessels; CO₂ recovery / recycle system; optional ethanol-modifier dosing skid; product collection vessels and polish filtration; CIP (clean-in-place) system. The full list is shown under Major Plant Equipment.
Why is supercritical CO₂ a candidate technology for linalyl acetate?
Supercritical CO₂ is generally suited to non-polar fractions such as oils and waxes, which is why it is a candidate technology for linalyl acetate. Where polar fractions are also needed, an ethanol modifier can be evaluated and validated separately.
What output and specification can the lavender flower plant deliver?
The listed output is linalyl acetate extract. The plant is configured to a customer-declared specification for linalyl acetate. No fixed purity, grade or yield is claimed until pilot results are available.
What application areas are listed for Lavender Flower Linalyl Acetate (CO₂)?
The application areas listed on this page are: Aromatherapy; Luxury Perfumes; Skin Care Products; Hair Care Products; Massage Oils; Spa Products; Pharmaceutical Preparations; Premium Personal Care Products.
Which related Mechotech extraction pages cover the same material or target?
Lavender flower and flowering-top distillation is covered on the Lavender page; see also the lavender essential oil distillation plant case study.
What capacity is available and is a pilot trial recommended?
Capacity is configured to requirement. Mechotech's technology screening recommends starting with small-scale feed trials to measure recovery, selectivity, solvent or water duty, quality and cleaning before pilot and commercial plant sizes are fixed.
