Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Amaranth raw material is cleaned, sorted, and (where required) milled to the optimal particle size to maximise extraction efficiency.

2

Supercritical CO2 Extraction

Prepared Amaranth is charged into the high-pressure SS 316L extraction vessel, where CO2 is pressurised and heated past its critical point to act as the extraction medium, drawing out the target oil.

3

Separation

The CO2-oil mixture is passed to a separator vessel where pressure is reduced, causing the CO2 to revert to gas and release the extracted oil.

4

CO2 Recovery & Recirculation

Released CO2 gas is recompressed, condensed, and recirculated back into the extraction cycle, minimising solvent consumption.

5

Collection & Quality Control

The extracted Amaranth Oil is collected and each batch verified by GC-MS and physical parameters (specific gravity, refractive index) before release.

This botanical is also in the product range of Sureka Life Sciences, our sister concern in botanical ingredients.

Applications

  • Pharmaceutical standardised ingredient supply
  • Nutraceutical capsule, tablet, and supplement manufacturing
  • Food and beverage applications
  • Cosmetic and personal care active ingredients
  • Export to regulated-market ingredient buyers

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

Electropolished SS 316L product-contact surfaces with CIP operation between batches.

  • Closed-Loop CO2 Recovery & Recirculation

Integrated recovery recompresses and recirculates CO2 within each batch cycle, reducing fresh CO2 make-up.

  • CO2 Extraction Medium

Supercritical CO2 extraction uses CO2, rather than a conventional organic solvent, as the extraction medium.

  • High-Pressure Rated Vessels

Extraction and separator vessels are designed for the high operating pressures required by the supercritical CO2 process, with the pressure rating confirmed for each project.

  • Scalable Batch Capacity

Plants are configured from pilot scale to commercial capacity with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Amaranth Oil (CO2)?
Yes. Mechotech is a CO2 extraction plant manufacturer and equipment supplier, engineering and fabricating the complete turnkey plant for Amaranth Oil (CO2) at our Hyderabad facility, installing and commissioning it as a single integrated system.
What specification can the Amaranth Oil (CO2) plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for Amaranth Oil; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and each batch is released with batch-release testing and certificate-of-analysis documentation.
What production capacities are available for the Amaranth Oil (CO2) plant?
Mechotech builds CO2 extraction plants from pilot systems for product development to larger commercial capacities. Capacity is selected from raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume, and investment timeline; we recommend a pilot plant to validate parameters before scaling.
Which industries is the Amaranth Oil (CO2) plant configured for?
The plant is configured for manufacturers supplying pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food and cosmetic applications; the target oil specification is set with the client during process development.
How does CO2 extraction of Amaranth Oil differ from distillation or solvent extraction?
CO2 extraction uses CO2, rather than a conventional organic solvent, as the extraction medium: CO2 is pressurised and heated past its critical point, extracts the oil, and is then released in a separator and recirculated. It is a range distinct from Mechotech's steam/hydro distillation and solvent-oleoresin extraction plants, and sits within the CO2 Extraction Plants range.
What is Amaranth Oil (CO2) and what is its botanical source?
Amaranth Oil (CO2) is sourced from Amaranthus caudatus. Squalene is among its principal documented constituents. The catalogue does not state which part of the plant is processed, so the exact plant part and feed form are to be confirmed with the client before the plant is configured. Mechotech configures the plant to the buyer's target specification, confirmed by batch-release testing, rather than to a fixed percentage.
