Stainless Steel Reactor Reaction / Synthesis Equipment — Mechotech

Stainless Steel Reactor

A stainless steel reactor is an agitated process vessel built entirely in stainless steel, used for mixing, reaction and processing duties where a fully metallic, cleanable vessel is wanted. Mechotech engineers and manufactures the Stainless Steel Reactor as turnkey process equipment in SS 316L (or a process-appropriate grade) for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food and botanical process lines. Mechotech’s illustration labels the agitator drive, feed inlet, vapour outlet and product outlet, with a control panel offering temperature control, pressure monitoring, agitation control, recipe management, data logging and reports, and safety interlocks. The unit is designed around the client’s process, then fabricated, installed and commissioned by Mechotech as a single scope.

The Stainless Steel Reactor is a stainless-steel vessel with an agitator and drive, a feed inlet, a vapour outlet and a product outlet, and a pressure gauge, with electropolished product-contact surfaces and integrated instrumentation so it can be cleaned in place between batches and operated under PLC-based control. The heating or cooling arrangement, the agitator type and the ancillaries are configured to the process and confirmed in design. Capacity is configured to the customer’s requirement, from pilot-scale systems for process validation to larger commercial installations with modular expansion, and every unit is delivered with full documentation to support GMP qualification.

Manufacturing Process

1

Charging

Raw materials and solvents are charged through the feed inlet.

2

Agitation & Mixing

The agitator and drive keep the contents mixed so that the batch is uniform.

3

Reaction or Processing

The batch runs under monitored temperature, pressure and agitation, with vapour leaving through the vapour outlet to a condenser where the process needs one.

4

Discharge

The finished batch is discharged through the product outlet.

5

Clean-in-Place

The vessel is cleaned in place between batches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete Stainless Steel Reactor?
Yes. Mechotech is a process equipment manufacturer and supplier, engineering and fabricating the complete Stainless Steel Reactor at our Hyderabad facility, installing and commissioning it as a single integrated system, with documentation to support GMP qualification. Final parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What capacities are available for the Stainless Steel Reactor?
Mechotech builds the Stainless Steel Reactor from pilot units for process validation to larger commercial installations. Vessel or unit size, duty and ancillaries are configured to the confirmed throughput or batch size; we recommend a pilot unit to validate parameters before scaling.
Which industries use the Stainless Steel Reactor?
The uses listed on this page are given under Applications. The industry, the feed and the target output are confirmed with the client before the equipment is configured.
What is a stainless steel reactor and when is it used?
A stainless steel reactor is an agitated vessel built in stainless steel for mixing, reaction and processing duties. It is used where the materials do not need a glass lining or a high-pressure rating and a fully metallic, cleanable vessel is wanted; the material of construction is confirmed from the chemistry in design.
How does the Stainless Steel Reactor differ from the other reactors Mechotech lists?
The Chemical Reactor is the general agitated reaction vessel, the Jacketed Reactor concentrates on jacketed temperature control, the Process Reactor covers mixing and holding duties, the Synthesis Reactor is the chemical-synthesis vessel, the Glass-Lined Reactor adds a glass surface for aggressive acids and alkalis, and the High-Pressure Reactor is pressure-rated. This page is the fully stainless-steel vessel. The choice is made against the actual chemistry and operating conditions.
What controls and connections does it have?
As labelled on Mechotech’s illustration, the vessel has an agitator drive, a feed inlet, a vapour outlet, a product outlet and a pressure gauge, with a control system offering temperature control, pressure monitoring, agitation control, recipe management, data logging and reports, and safety interlocks. The final configuration is set to the client’s process.
What information is needed to specify a Stainless Steel Reactor?
To configure the equipment Mechotech needs the process chemistry and the materials involved, including how corrosive they are, the batch size, the temperature and pressure range, the heating or cooling medium available, the mixing duty, whether vapour must be condensed, and the hygiene and documentation requirements. A pilot unit is recommended before scaling.
