SCFE – Supercritical CO2 Extraction Plant

SCFE – Supercritical CO2 Extraction Plant

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey supercritical CO₂ (SCFE) extraction plants that use carbon dioxide above its critical point as a clean, tunable, solvent-free extraction medium. Supercritical CO₂ combines gas-like penetration with liquid-like solvent power, so it dissolves target compounds from a botanical bed at low temperature and then releases them completely when the pressure is dropped — leaving a residue-free, high-purity extract. Mechotech engineers the complete system — extraction vessels, fractional separators, high-pressure CO₂ pump, co-solvent dosing, chilling, CO₂ recovery and PLC-SCADA controls — for the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, food, flavour, fragrance and cosmetic industries.

Aqueous Extraction

Aqueous Extraction

Mechotech engineers Aqueous Extraction as a water-based solid-liquid extraction configuration of its extraction platforms, using water (deionised or process water) as the sole extraction medium instead of ethanol, hexane, or hydro-alcoholic blends. Running an extractor on water rather than an organic solvent removes the need for solvent recovery and flame-proof/ATEX provisions associated with flammable solvents, and suits applications where a solvent-free or residue-free extract is required.

Hydroalcoholic Extraction

Hydroalcoholic Extraction

Mechotech engineers Hydroalcoholic Extraction as a water-ethanol blended solvent configuration of its extraction platforms. Blending water with ethanol widens the polarity range of the extraction medium compared with either solvent alone, allowing both polar and moderately non-polar target compounds to be drawn into the same extract, and is a solvent option already documented across Mechotech's continuous, counter-current, and other extraction equipment.

Ethanol Extraction

Ethanol Extraction

Mechotech engineers Ethanol Extraction as a food-grade-ethanol solvent configuration of its extraction platforms — a solvent option already documented across Mechotech's continuous, counter-current, and other extraction equipment. Ethanol suits recovery of a broad range of moderately polar target compounds and is widely accepted in food, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical applications where solvent residue limits favour ethanol over hydrocarbon solvents such as hexane.

Rotary Extractor

Rotary Extractor

Mechotech engineers and manufactures the Rotary Extractor as turnkey process equipment for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, and botanical extraction lines. Each unit is designed around the client's specific process parameters and target output, then fabricated, installed, and commissioned by Mechotech as a single accountable scope — from engineering drawings through to a performance-verified handover.

Continuous Extractor

Continuous Extractor

Mechotech designs and manufactures the Continuous Extractor as turnkey process equipment that runs solid-liquid extraction as a steady, uninterrupted operation rather than the discrete load-extract-discharge cycle of a batch extractor. Fresh feed enters at one end of the extractor while spent marc discharges continuously at the other, with solvent typically moving counter-current to the solids so that the freshest solvent meets the most-exhausted material and the richest miscella meets the freshest feed — giving higher solvent efficiency and steadier throughput than repeated batch cycles can sustain.

Solvent Extraction Plant

Solvent Extraction Plant

Mechotech engineers and manufactures the Solvent Extraction Plant as turnkey process equipment for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, and botanical extraction lines that recover target compounds using a liquid solvent. Each plant is designed around the client's specific process parameters, feedstock, and target output, then fabricated, installed, and commissioned by Mechotech as a single accountable scope.

Percolation Extractor

Percolation Extractor

Mechotech engineers and manufactures the Percolation Extractor as turnkey process equipment for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, and botanical extraction lines that recover compounds by passing solvent through a static bed of solid material. Feed is loaded into a vertical column and solvent percolates downward (or is recirculated) through the settled bed, dissolving target compounds as it passes, rather than the solids being continuously conveyed as in Mechotech's Continuous Extractor. Each unit is designed around the client's specific process parameters and target output, then fabricated, installed, and commissioned by Mechotech as a single accountable scope.

Batch Extractor

Batch Extractor

Mechotech engineers and manufactures the Batch Extractor as turnkey process equipment for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, and botanical extraction lines that process feedstock as discrete, self-contained batches. A fixed charge of feed material is loaded, extracted for a set time, and fully discharged before the next charge begins — giving simple, flexible operation and easy multi-product changeover, in contrast to the continuous feed-in/discharge-out operation of Mechotech's Continuous Extractor. Each unit is designed around the client's specific process parameters and target output, then fabricated, installed, and commissioned by Mechotech as a single accountable scope.

Counter-Current Extraction (CCE)

Counter-Current Extraction (CCE)

Counter-Current Extraction (CCE) moves feed material and solvent through a series of connected extraction stages in opposing directions, so the freshest, most concentrated solvent gradient always meets the material at the stage where it will do the most good. This staged, opposing-flow arrangement sustains a higher concentration gradient across the whole extraction train than a single-vessel soak can achieve, giving solvent-efficient, consistent recovery at commercial throughput. Mechotech engineers turnkey counter-current extraction systems configured to each feedstock, solvent and target compound.

Counter-Current Extraction with Ultrasound Assistance (CC-UAE)

Counter-Current Extraction with Ultrasound Assistance (CC-UAE)

Counter-Current Extraction with Ultrasound Assistance (CC-UAE) combines Mechotech's multi-stage, opposing-flow Counter-Current Extraction with controlled inline ultrasonic treatment applied at one or more stages of the extraction train. The counter-current stage arrangement maintains its established concentration-gradient advantage, while inline ultrasonic cavitation at the targeted stage or stages further disrupts the solid matrix and intensifies solvent penetration, aimed at feedstocks that respond well to combined staged and cavitation-driven mass transfer. Mechotech engineers turnkey CC-UAE systems configured to each feedstock, solvent, stage count and ultrasonic treatment point.

Subcritical Water Extraction (SWE)

Subcritical Water Extraction (SWE)

Subcritical Water Extraction (SWE), also known as pressurized hot water extraction, uses liquid water heated above its normal boiling point but held below its critical point, with sufficient pressure applied to keep it in the liquid state. In this range the dielectric constant of water falls sharply, so the medium behaves progressively like a mid-polarity organic solvent and dissolves a wide spectrum of phenolics, flavonoids, polysaccharides and aroma compounds from botanicals. Because water is the only solvent, the process is clean, non-flammable and free of residual solvent concerns. Mechotech engineers turnkey SWE Extraction systems tailored to each feedstock and target compound.

Pressurized Liquid Extraction

Pressurized Liquid Extraction

Pressurized Liquid Extraction (PLE), also known as accelerated solvent extraction, uses common liquid solvents at elevated temperature under enough pressure to keep them liquid well above their normal boiling points. The combination of heat and pressure dramatically speeds up mass transfer, dissolves target compounds faster and uses far less solvent than conventional soaking or reflux methods. It works with water, ethanol, methanol, hydro-alcoholic blends and other food- or pharma-grade solvents, and suits a wide range of botanicals and process residues. Mechotech engineers turnkey PLE systems configured to each feedstock, solvent and target compound.

Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction

Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction

Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction (UAE) — also known as Ultrasonic-Assisted Extraction — uses high-intensity ultrasonic waves to drive acoustic cavitation in a solvent-and-solids slurry. The rapid formation and violent collapse of microbubbles generates intense local shear, microjets and pressure that rupture plant cell walls and push solvent into the matrix. This mechanical intensification releases target compounds quickly, at lower temperatures and with less solvent than conventional extraction. UAE Extraction suits heat-sensitive actives and a broad range of botanicals, and Mechotech engineers turnkey ultrasonic extraction systems configured to each feedstock, solvent and target compound.

Microwave-Assisted Extraction

Microwave-Assisted Extraction

Microwave-Assisted Extraction (MAE) uses microwave energy to heat a solvent-and-solids mixture volumetrically, directly exciting polar molecules and the moisture held inside plant cells. The rapid internal heating builds pressure within the cells until their walls rupture, releasing target compounds quickly into the surrounding solvent. Because heating is fast and targeted, MAE Extraction delivers high yields in short cycles with reduced solvent use, and it can even be run solvent-free using the matrix's own moisture. Mechotech engineers turnkey microwave extraction systems configured to each feedstock, solvent and target compound.

Enzyme-Assisted Extraction

Enzyme-Assisted Extraction

Enzyme-Assisted Extraction (EAE) — also known as Enzymatic-Assisted Extraction — uses targeted enzymes such as cellulase, pectinase, hemicellulase and protease to break down the structural cell-wall and membrane components that otherwise trap target compounds inside plant tissue. By degrading cellulose, pectin, hemicellulose and structural proteins under mild, controlled conditions, the enzymes open the matrix and let solvent reach the actives directly, without relying on heat, mechanical force or aggressive solvent alone. EAE Extraction suits feedstocks where the compound of interest is physically bound or shielded by fibrous or proteinaceous cell-wall structures, and Mechotech engineers turnkey enzyme-assisted extraction systems configured to each feedstock, enzyme system and target compound.

Hybrid Extraction (UAE + EAE)

Hybrid Extraction (UAE + EAE)

Hybrid Extraction — Ultrasound-Assisted + Enzyme-Assisted Extraction (UAE + EAE) combines two proven intensification technologies — enzyme-assisted extraction and ultrasound-assisted extraction — into a single modular platform. Targeted enzymes such as cellulase, pectinase, hemicellulase and protease selectively break down cell-wall and membrane structures, while controlled ultrasonic cavitation further disrupts the loosened matrix and drives solvent penetration. Together, the two mechanisms address feedstocks that resist either technology alone, particularly protein-, pectin- and polyphenol-rich botanical materials and difficult fibrous matrices. Mechotech engineers turnkey Hybrid Extraction systems configured to each feedstock, enzyme system and target compound.
