Bag Filter Filtration Equipment — Mechotech

Bag Filter

Mechotech engineers and manufactures the Bag Filter as turnkey process equipment for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, and botanical processing lines that need economical, high-capacity particulate filtration. Each unit is designed around the client's specific process parameters and target output, then fabricated, installed, and commissioned by Mechotech as a single accountable scope.

The Bag Filter is built in SS 316L (or a process-appropriate grade) as a vessel housing one or more replaceable filter bags, through which the process liquid passes so suspended solids are retained on the bag media and periodically replaced, with electropolished product-contact surfaces and integrated instrumentation so it can be operated under PLC-based control. Capacity is configured to the customer's requirement, from pilot-scale systems for process validation to larger commercial installations with modular expansion, and every unit is delivered with full documentation to support GMP and regulatory qualification.

Manufacturing Process

1

Engineering & Design

Mechotech's process engineers size and configure the Bag Filter around the client's feed material, bag count, and target output specification before fabrication begins.

2

Fabrication & Assembly

The housing and bag support baskets are fabricated in SS 316L (or a process-appropriate grade), with instrumentation and control automation integrated during assembly rather than added afterward.

3

Operation: Filtration and Bag Change

In service, the process liquid enters through the inlet, passes through the bags and leaves through the outlet while suspended solids stay on the bag media; when the pressure drop across the bags rises, the bags are changed or cleaned (general working principle; the final design is set to the client’s process).

4

Installation & Commissioning

The completed system is installed at the client's site, and commissioned as a single accountable unit before handover.

Major Plant Equipment

  • Filter vessel housing one or more replaceable filter bags
  • Bag support baskets
  • Instrumentation and PLC-based control panel

Plant Output

Particulate-free process liquid (filtrate)Solids retained on the bag media

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete Bag Filter?
Yes. Mechotech is a process equipment manufacturer and supplier, engineering and fabricating the complete Bag Filter at our Hyderabad facility, installing and commissioning it as a single integrated system.
What capacities are available for the Bag Filter?
Mechotech builds the Bag Filter from pilot systems for product development to larger commercial capacities. Capacity is selected based on feedstock/throughput requirements, confirmed buyer volume, and investment timeline; we recommend a pilot system to validate parameters before scaling.
Which industries use the Bag Filter?
The end-use areas listed for Bag Filter on this page are given under Applications. The end use and the target specification are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How does the Bag Filter differ from a Sparkler Filter?
The Bag Filter provides economical, high-capacity particulate filtration, retaining suspended solids on replaceable bags. The Sparkler Filter is an enclosed polishing filter used ahead of downstream processing. Both are part of Mechotech's Filtration Equipment Plants range.
When is a Bag Filter the right choice?
As general guidance, a bag filter suits coarse-to-medium particulate removal from a flowing liquid at high flow, where replaceable bags make changeover quick and the cost per litre filtered low. For a polished, particle-free filtrate a downstream Cartridge Filter is usual, for a thick cake the Nutsche Filter or Filter Press is used, and for filter-aid filtration the Sparkler Filter. The final choice is made from feed samples.
What information is needed to specify a Bag Filter?
To configure the housing Mechotech needs the liquid and its viscosity, the flow rate, the particle size and solids load, the operating temperature and pressure, the required bag micron rating and the compatibility of the bag media with the liquid. A pilot trial on a sample is recommended before scaling.
