Paprika Seed Oil (CO₂) CO2 Extraction Plants — Mechotech

Paprika Seed Oil (CO₂)

Extraction Technologies

Supercritical CO₂ Extraction (SCFE)

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey extraction plants that process paprika seeds to recover paprika seed oil. We supply the machinery for the route selected after screening — raw-material preparation, extraction, separation, concentration or recovery, and drying or collection — configured to the target specification. Mechotech's technology screening identifies one candidate route for this feedstock: Supercritical CO₂ Extraction (SCFE) (exploratory screening, rank 87 of 100 in that technology's screening).

For paprika seeds with paprika seed oil as the target, there is one candidate technology: Supercritical CO₂ Extraction (SCFE). By route — Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE): exploratory screening, rank 87 of 100, CO₂; optional ethanol modifier. For the best-ranked route, Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE), the screening flags: nonpolar fraction preferred; polar targets may need modifier and separate validation. These are screening candidates rather than guarantees: the final technology, operating parameters and plant configuration are established during process development and pilot validation. Product-contact parts are built in SS 316L with CIP-cleanable design, and automation is configured to the project.

Manufacturing Process

Each extraction method follows a different process — pick a method to see its steps.

1

Raw-Material Conditioning

Paprika seeds are cleaned and conditioned so paprika seed oil is accessible to supercritical CO₂; moisture and particle size are set during process development.

2

Extraction Vessel Loading

Conditioned paprika seeds are charged into the high-pressure extraction vessel.

3

Supercritical CO₂ Extraction

Supercritical CO₂ passes through the charge and dissolves paprika seed oil; an ethanol modifier can be evaluated where polar fractions are also required, and operating pressure and temperature are set in process development.

4

Separator Collection

Pressure is reduced in separator stages so the extracted paprika seed oil drops out of the CO₂ and is collected.

5

CO₂ Recycle

Gaseous CO₂ is re-liquefied and recirculated to the extractor, limiting make-up gas demand.

6

Finishing & Packing

The collected paprika seed oil is polished by filtration as needed and packed to the required specification.

Key Features

  • Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE) — Exploratory Screening Fit

Best-ranked route for paprika seeds: rank 87 of 100 in Mechotech's supercritical CO₂ extraction screening, using CO₂; optional ethanol modifier. Ranks are directional screening priorities, not measured yield, ROI or plant guarantees.

  • Paprika seeds — Single Candidate Route

Routes screened for paprika seeds: Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE) — exploratory, rank 87. The process tab above shows the steps for this route.

  • Seeds Feed Form

The candidate routes are defined for paprika seeds; feedstock assay and moisture are measured as pilot inputs and the feed form is set during process development.

  • Parameters Fixed After Pilot Trials

Recovery of paprika seed oil, selectivity, solvent or water duty, quality and cleaning are measured in pilot trials, starting with small-scale feed trials, before final plant parameters are fixed.

  • SS 316L Hygienic Construction

Product-contact surfaces are SS 316L and CIP-cleanable, in a hygienic design suited to food, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical supply chains; PLC-SCADA automation with recipe control can be configured to the project scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a paprika seed extraction plant for paprika seed oil?
It is a turnkey Mechotech plant that processes paprika seeds to recover paprika seed oil. The plant covers raw-material preparation, extraction, separation, concentration or fraction collection, and drying or packing, and is configured to the target specification. It sits within Mechotech's wider range of CO₂ extraction plants.
Which plant part or feed form does the paprika seed plant process?
The candidate feedstock is paprika seeds. The target extract is paprika seed oil.
Which extraction technology is suitable for paprika seeds?
The candidate technology for this feedstock is Supercritical CO₂ Extraction (SCFE) (exploratory screening). See the related pages on supercritical CO₂ extraction. These are screening candidates, not guarantees of yield, purity or recovery; the route is confirmed through process development and pilot validation. In Mechotech's technology screening, Supercritical CO₂ Extraction (rank 87 of 100) is ranked directionally as an exploratory candidate. Ranks are directional screening priorities at method-family level, not measured yield, ROI or plant guarantees.
How does Mechotech's screening rank the candidate route for paprika seeds?
Each technology list in Mechotech's screening ranks 100 feedstock–target opportunities (1 = highest priority). For paprika seeds: Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE) rank 87 (exploratory). Ranks are directional screening priorities, not measured yield, ROI or plant guarantees, and the evidence is at method-family level, so every route needs pilot validation.
How does the paprika seed extraction process work?
Each listed route has its own steps — Supercritical CO₂ (SCFE): Extraction Vessel Loading → Supercritical CO₂ Extraction → Separator Collection. All routes share the same outline: prepare paprika seeds, extract paprika seed oil using the technology-specific step, separate and clarify the extract, concentrate it, and recover, standardise and dry. The process tabs above show every step.
What equipment does the paprika seed extraction plant include?
The equipment follows the selected route and includes raw-material cleaning and size-reduction system; supercritical CO₂ extraction vessels; CO₂ pump, heat exchangers and chiller; separator vessels; CO₂ recovery / recycle system; optional ethanol-modifier dosing skid; product collection vessels and polish filtration; CIP (clean-in-place) system. The full list is shown under Major Plant Equipment.
Why is supercritical CO₂ a candidate technology for paprika seed oil?
Supercritical CO₂ is generally suited to non-polar fractions such as oils and waxes, which is why it is a candidate technology for paprika seed oil. Where polar fractions are also needed, an ethanol modifier can be evaluated and validated separately.
What output and specification can the paprika seed plant deliver?
The listed output is paprika seed oil. The plant is configured to a customer-declared specification for paprika seed oil. No fixed purity, grade or yield is claimed until pilot results are available.
What application areas are listed for Paprika Seed Oil (CO₂)?
The application areas listed on this page are: pharmaceutical standardised ingredient supply; nutraceutical capsule, tablet, and supplement manufacturing; food and beverage applications; cosmetic and personal care active ingredients; export to regulated-market ingredient buyers.
Which related Mechotech extraction pages cover the same material or target?
Paprika fruit oleoresin is covered on the Paprika Fruit Carotenoid and Capsanthin Oleoresin Extract page. Other seed oil pages include Pumpkin Seed Oil and Chilli Seed Oil.
What capacity is available and is a pilot trial recommended?
Capacity is configured to requirement. Mechotech's technology screening recommends starting with small-scale feed trials to measure recovery, selectivity, solvent or water duty, quality and cleaning before pilot and commercial plant sizes are fixed.
