Cardamom Oil (CO2) CO2 Extraction Plants — Mechotech

Cardamom Oil (CO2)

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey CO2 extraction plants for Cardamom oil. We supply the complete machinery to process Cardamom (pods) into a CO2 extract configured to the client’s target specification for flavour, fragrance and related ingredient applications.

Mechotech’s Cardamom Oil (CO2) plant is configured around the raw material and the target oil. It is built in SS 316L, rated for the high-pressure supercritical CO2 process, with integrated CO2 recovery and recirculation, PLC-based automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. Cardamom pods hold their oil in small aromatic seeds, so the line is built around cleaning and milling the pods and closed supercritical CO₂ extraction, with 1,8-cineole as the listed marker compound.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Cardamom raw material is cleaned, sorted, and (where required) milled to the optimal particle size to maximise extraction efficiency.

2

Supercritical CO2 Extraction

Prepared Cardamom is charged into the high-pressure SS 316L extraction vessel, where CO2 is pressurised and heated past its critical point to act as a solvent-free extraction medium, drawing out the target oil.

3

Separation

The CO2-oil mixture is passed to a separator vessel where pressure is reduced, causing the CO2 to revert to gas and release the extracted oil.

4

CO2 Recovery & Recirculation

Released CO2 gas is recompressed, condensed, and recirculated back into the extraction cycle, minimising solvent consumption.

5

Collection & Quality Control

The extracted Cardamom Oil is collected and each batch verified by GC-MS and physical parameters (specific gravity, refractive index) before release.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Cardamom Oil (CO2)?
Yes. Mechotech is a CO2 extraction plant manufacturer and equipment supplier, engineering and fabricating the complete turnkey plant for Cardamom Oil (CO2) at our Hyderabad facility, then installing and commissioning it as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the Cardamom Oil (CO2) plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for Cardamom Oil (CO2). The specification that can be achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and each batch is released with batch-release testing and certificate-of-analysis documentation.
What production capacities are available for the Cardamom Oil (CO2) plant?
Capacity for the Cardamom Oil (CO2) plant is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which industries use the Cardamom Oil (CO2) plant?
The end-use areas listed for Cardamom Oil (CO2) on this page are given under Applications. The end use and the target specification are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
Which part of cardamom is processed in the CO2 plant?
The feed form listed for cardamom in the Mechotech extraction shortlist is pods. The exact feed form is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How is cardamom oil produced by supercritical CO2 extraction?
Prepared cardamom is charged into a high-pressure SS 316L extraction vessel where CO2, pressurised and heated past its critical point, draws out the oil. Pressure is reduced in a separator vessel so the CO2 reverts to gas and releases the oil; the CO2 is recompressed, condensed and recirculated.
Does Mechotech list other routes or related plants for Cardamom Oil (CO2)?
Cardamom is also listed as Cardamom Oleoresin, Cardamom Absolute and Cardamom — Seed (steam distillation); this page covers the supercritical CO2 route.
How does cardamom oil by CO₂ differ from the distilled cardamom oil?
This page covers supercritical CO₂ extraction. The steam-distillation route is described in the Cardamom Essential Oil Distillation Plant case study and on Cardamom — Seed; the solvent routes are Cardamom Oleoresin and Cardamom Absolute. Each route gives a different product, so the route follows the buyer’s specification.
