Moringa Extraction Plant

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey moringa extraction plants, engineered and built at our Hyderabad, India works. The main catalogue route is a hydro-alcoholic leaf extract plant that makes a glycoside-standardised, polyphenol and flavonoid-rich extract. Moringa seed routes, ben oil by supercritical CO2 and coagulant protein by enzyme-assisted extraction, are catalogued separately. This page is for ingredient manufacturers who want an extract plant, and it is clear that moringa leaf drying and powder-milling lines and moringa oil pressing are not catalogued as a plant.

The leaf plant is a closed-loop hydro-alcoholic line: raw material washing and inspection, a hammer mill or pulveriser, jacketed SS 316L extraction vessels, pressure leaf filtration followed by cross-flow membrane clarification, a low-temperature vacuum evaporator with solvent recovery, and a spray dryer chosen to help protect chlorophyll and colour. Moringa's polyphenols, flavonoids and glycosides are heat- and light-sensitive, so extraction and concentration run under controlled, oxidation-minimised conditions. The design is GMP-oriented and hygienic, with documentation to support the customer's own qualification. Final configuration depends on raw material, process requirement, capacity and engineering review.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Moringa leaf is cleaned, inspected and milled under controlled conditions to a uniform particle size that is sized for efficient extraction, with conditions set to help protect heat-sensitive nutrients and chlorophyll.

2

Extraction

Milled leaf is extracted with a hydro-alcoholic solvent system in closed jacketed SS 316L extractors at controlled temperature over multiple cycles, to recover flavonoids and glycosides while limiting oxidation.

3

Filtration & Membrane Clarification

The extract (miscella) is clarified through pressure leaf filtration followed by cross-flow membrane filtration, improving clarity and removing fine particulates in a step intended to be gentle on sensitive bioactives.

4

Concentration & Solvent Recovery

The clarified extract is concentrated in a low-temperature vacuum evaporator, with solvent recovered through the condenser return system.

5

Standardisation

The concentrate is assayed and adjusted to the declared specification, such as glycosides by gravimetry, before drying.

6

Drying

The standardised extract is spray-dried under controlled inlet and outlet temperatures chosen to help protect chlorophyll and antioxidant activity; how much is retained is confirmed in pilot trials.

7

Quality Control & Packing

Each batch is released after assay, residual-solvent, heavy-metal, microbial and moisture testing, then packed under batch-traceable, GMP-oriented conditions with documentation.

Key Features

  • Leaf Extract Plant, Clearly Scoped

The catalogue route is a hydro-alcoholic extract plant. Leaf drying, powder-milling lines and oil pressing are not catalogued as a plant.

  • Chlorophyll and Antioxidant Retention

Membrane clarification and low-temperature vacuum concentration protect moringa's natural chlorophyll, flavonoids and antioxidant activity through to the dried powder.

  • Membrane Clarification

A cross-flow membrane stage follows pressure leaf filtration, to remove fine particulates in a step intended to be gentle on sensitive bioactives.

  • Seed Routes Catalogued Separately

Ben oil by supercritical CO2 and coagulant protein by enzyme-assisted extraction are listed as their own route, screened for seeds.

  • SS 316L and Closed-Loop Solvent Recovery

Electropolished SS 316L product-contact surfaces with CIP, and integrated solvent recovery whose performance is established during process development.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a moringa extraction plant produce?
The main route is a Moringa leaf extract plant that produces a glycoside-standardised, polyphenol and flavonoid-rich extract as a free-flowing powder or liquid concentrate, with chlorophyll-rich extract also listed. Moringa seeds have a separate route on the seed ben oil and coagulant protein page. Which one you need depends on whether you are working with leaf or seed and on the ingredient you want.
Does Mechotech supply moringa leaf drying and powder-milling lines?
No. A moringa leaf drying line or a plain leaf powder-milling line is not listed in our catalog as a plant. Our scope here is extract plants: the leaf is cleaned, inspected and milled only as far as the extraction process needs, then extracted, filtered, concentrated and dried as an extract. If you also need leaf drying or milling, raise it at enquiry stage so engineering review can scope it separately.
Can Mechotech supply a moringa oil pressing plant?
Moringa oil pressing is not catalogued as a plant. The catalogue lists moringa seed ben oil as a supercritical CO2 extraction route, screened together with enzyme-assisted extraction for coagulant protein, on its own page. That is an extraction route to be validated in pilot trials, not a mechanical pressing line. If pressing matters for your project, tell us at enquiry stage so engineering review can advise what can and cannot be addressed.
Why is moringa leaf extracted with hydro-alcoholic solvent, and what range can be targeted?
Moringa's polyphenols, flavonoids and glucosinolate-derived glycosides are heat- and light-sensitive, and its chlorophyll degrades easily, so the catalogue route uses closed-loop hydro-alcoholic extraction under controlled, oxidation-minimised conditions. The product page lists a configurable standardisation range of 5% to 40% Glycosides by Gravimetry. That is a range listed on the product page, not a guarantee. Your target is agreed during process development.
How is chlorophyll and colour protected during processing?
Three steps matter on the leaf route. Cross-flow membrane filtration clarifies the extract in a step intended to be gentle on sensitive bioactives, concentration runs at low temperature under vacuum, and the final spray drying is run at controlled inlet and outlet temperatures chosen to help protect chlorophyll and antioxidant activity. How much is retained is confirmed in pilot trials, not promised in advance. Concentration in a falling-film evaporator and finishing in a spray dryer are covered on their own pages.
What moringa raw-material details do you need?
We need to know whether you will process fresh or dried leaves (the reference project lists 6-10% moisture), the leaf quality and origin, expected volume, and the extract you want, such as glycoside-standardised or polyphenol-rich. For seeds, we need seed form and the target, ben oil or coagulant protein. Feasibility on your own material can be explored through the Process Development Centre.
What does the moringa reference case study show?
The Moringa Leaf Extraction Plant case study describes a turnkey leaf extraction plant processing 10 tonnes of moringa leaves per day. It is a reference project, not a catalogue size. Your plant capacity is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and engineering review. The plant belongs to our wider herbal extraction plant range.
What should I send to request a moringa plant quote?
Send the leaf or seed form, moisture, volume, the extract you want (glycoside-standardised, polyphenol-rich, chlorophyll-rich, ben oil or protein), your assay method, solvent preference, automation level and site utilities. Compliance of your facility and product remains your responsibility. Final scope is confirmed by engineering review, and you can request a quote with these details.
