Gum Arabic Processing Plant Agro & Food Processing Projects — Mechotech

Gum Arabic Processing Plant

Gum arabic processing usually means taking raw gum through cleaning and sorting, dissolution, purification and drying into a clean, free-flowing powder or a concentrated solution. Mechotech engineers extraction, filtration, evaporation and spray-drying equipment, and reviews gum arabic projects against that equipment range. Gum arabic is not a standard listed plant in our catalog, so every enquiry starts with a feasibility review of your gum, target product and capacity.

The nearest listed Mechotech routes are the gum polysaccharide extraction plants for karaya and tragacanth gum (raw-gum cleaning and sorting, extraction, solid-liquid separation, concentration, drying) and the spray dryer, which converts liquid feeds into powder. For a gum arabic project the engineering team assesses whether and how these building blocks fit your gum grade, viscosity, target purity and powder specification. Product-contact parts on the related plants are built in SS 316L with CIP-cleanable design. The route described on this page is indicative: the final process, equipment and capacity are confirmed only after raw-material review, laboratory or pilot trials, and engineering review.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Gum Cleaning & Sorting

Raw gum is received, cleaned and sorted to remove foreign matter, as on the listed gum extraction plants (gum reception, cleaning and sorting station, with size reduction where required).

2

Dissolution

Cleaned gum is taken into aqueous solution in a jacketed, agitated vessel. Concentration, temperature and hold time depend on the gum grade and are set during feasibility review.

3

Clarification & Filtration

The solution is clarified through filtration and, where the project needs it, centrifugation, using the filtration equipment range.

4

Concentration

Where a higher solids feed is wanted ahead of drying, a vacuum evaporator or falling-film evaporator concentrates the clarified solution.

5

Spray Drying

The liquid feed is atomised into hot air in the spray dryer and dried to powder. Whether a gum arabic solution suits the spray dryer, and at what inlet and outlet conditions, is confirmed on a trial rather than assumed.

6

Powder Recovery, Sieving & Packing

Powder is recovered through cyclone and bag filter, sieved to remove oversize and packed under conditions that suit its moisture and intended shelf life.

  • Purified and concentrated gum solution projects
  • Food and beverage ingredient manufacturing
  • Related gum and polysaccharide extraction projects

Key Features

  • Feasibility Before Commitment

Because gum arabic is not a standard listed plant, we confirm the material, process and capacity first and make no supply commitment until the review is complete.

  • Built From Listed Equipment

The route draws on equipment already in our range: gum cleaning and sorting, extraction and dissolution vessels, filtration, evaporators and the spray dryer.

  • Pilot Validation Available

Spray-drying and process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation on your gum rather than set as a general figure.

  • Turnkey Scope From One Team

Engineering, manufacture, installation and commissioning are set out in the technical proposal once the process route is confirmed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply a gum arabic processing plant?
Gum arabic is not a standard listed plant in our catalog. We do engineer the equipment that a gum arabic line is built from: gum cleaning and sorting, dissolution and extraction vessels, filtration, evaporation and spray drying. Each gum arabic enquiry is reviewed by our engineers against your gum, target product and capacity before we make any supply commitment.
What do I need to share for a gum arabic feasibility review?
Tell us the gum arabic grade and form (raw nodules, kibbled or powder), the target product (powder, solution or both), the specification you must meet, the daily capacity, the utilities available at site and where the plant will be built. Samples help: a laboratory or pilot trial on your gum is the surest way to confirm the route.
Can gum arabic be spray dried?
Mechotech builds spray dryers that convert liquid feeds into powder, with the atomizer selected to the feed's viscosity and target particle size. Whether a gum arabic solution is suited to a given dryer, and the inlet and outlet conditions, are confirmed during feasibility review and pilot trials, not assumed.
Which related gum plants does Mechotech list?
The catalog lists karaya gum polysaccharide extraction and tragacanth gum extraction plants, which follow a gum cleaning, extraction, separation, concentration and drying route, and the broader gum and resin extraction plants range. These are different gums: they show the equipment approach, not a confirmed gum arabic configuration.
Can the plant purify gum arabic?
Purification steps such as clarification, filtration and concentration can be assessed as part of the review. The degree of purification and any specification on ash, colour or microbial limits depend on your gum and your customer's requirement, so they are defined and tested with you before a configuration is proposed.
Should I trial the process before ordering a plant?
Yes. We recommend validating the process on your own gum at laboratory or pilot scale before sizing a commercial plant. Our Botanical Process Development Centre, run with Sureka Life Sciences, covers lab trials, pilot trials, mass balance and scale-up, and pilot plants are available for process validation.
Do you quote capacity, price and delivery time on this page?
No. Capacity is configured to requirement and price and delivery depend on the confirmed scope, so we only quote after the engineering review. Request a proposal with your gum, target product and capacity and our team will respond with what we can scope.
