Fruit Juice Processing & Concentration Plant

Mechotech supplies the concentration and drying part of a fruit juice line: falling-film and multiple-effect evaporators for juice and process-liquid concentration, an Aloe Vera gel and juice processing line, and spray or freeze dryers where a juice powder is wanted. Complete fruit reception, washing, pulping and filling lines are not listed in our catalog. Share your fruit, capacity and target product and our engineers will confirm what we can scope.

Juice concentration is a thermal duty on a heat-sensitive liquid, so the choice of evaporator depends on the juice's viscosity, solids and tendency to foul. The listed falling-film evaporator concentrates fruit and vegetable juice under vacuum with a short residence time on the heated surface, and the multiple-effect evaporator (MEE) cascades several stages for steam economy on larger duties. The same range includes the Aloe Vera line, which already covers washing, filleting, filtration, pasteurisation, optional concentration and drying, and aseptic filling for gel, juice, concentrate and powder. For other fruits, the front end (reception, washing, pulping, extraction, clarification) and the filling end of the line are scoped per project, and final configuration depends on the fruit, process requirements, capacity and engineering review.

Manufacturing Process

1

Fruit Reception, Washing & Pulping

Not listed in our catalog as a standard line for specific fruits. Where a project needs it, the scope is defined in the technical proposal after review.

2

Juice Clarification & Filtration

Juice is clarified using the filtration and centrifuge equipment range. The steps used depend on the fruit and the target juice or concentrate.

3

Pasteurisation

A plate heat exchanger and pasteuriser form part of the listed Aloe Vera line; heat treatment for other juices is set per project.

4

Evaporation & Concentration

The feed is concentrated under vacuum in a falling-film evaporator, or across several stages in a multiple-effect evaporator, to the target solids.

5

Optional Drying to Powder

A juice concentrate can be converted to powder in a spray dryer or freeze dryer, where the feed suits the dryer. Suitability is confirmed on a trial.

6

Storage, Filling & CIP

Concentrate is held in storage tanks, with aseptic filling on the listed Aloe Vera line and CIP between runs. Filling for other juices is scoped per project.

Major Plant Equipment

  • Falling-film evaporator
  • Multiple-effect evaporator (MEE)
  • Vacuum evaporator for batch duties
  • Filtration and centrifuge equipment
  • Plate heat exchanger and pasteuriser (Aloe Vera line)
  • Spray dryer or freeze dryer (optional, for powder)
  • Storage tanks and aseptic filling system (Aloe Vera line)
  • CIP (clean-in-place) system
  • PLC-based control panel and instrumentation

Plant Output

Concentrated juiceAloe Vera gel, juice, concentrate and powderJuice powder (optional, subject to trial)Recovered vapour condensate

Applications

  • Fruit and vegetable juice concentration
  • Juice and beverage concentrate duties
  • Aloe Vera gel, juice, concentrate and powder production
  • Botanical extract pre-concentration ahead of drying
  • Juice concentrate to powder conversion (subject to trial)

Key Features

  • Gentle Vacuum Concentration

The falling-film evaporator concentrates heat-sensitive liquids under vacuum with a short residence time on the heated surface.

  • Multi-Effect Steam Economy

Multiple-effect evaporators cascade stages for energy-efficient concentration on larger duties.

  • A Listed Juice Line

The Aloe Vera line already combines filleting, filtration, pasteurisation, optional concentration and drying, and aseptic filling.

  • Clear Scope Boundaries

We state which stages are listed equipment and which are scoped per project, so the proposal matches what Mechotech can deliver.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply a complete fruit juice processing plant?
We supply the concentration and drying part of a juice line. Complete fruit reception, pulping and filling lines, and plants for specific fruits such as mango, pineapple, orange or tomato, are not listed in our catalog. Send your fruit, capacity and target product and our engineers will confirm what we can scope.
Which evaporator suits juice concentration?
The falling-film evaporator is listed for fruit and vegetable juice concentration, and the multiple-effect evaporator suits larger duties where steam economy matters. The choice depends on your juice's viscosity, solids and fouling tendency, and is confirmed in process design.
Can juice concentrate be dried into powder?
A concentrate can be fed to a spray dryer or a freeze dryer where the feed suits the dryer. Sticky, sugar-rich juices often need a carrier or drying aid, so suitability and settings are confirmed on a trial rather than assumed.
What is the Aloe Vera juice line?
The Aloe Vera processing line covers leaf washing, filleting, gel extraction, aloin removal, filtration, pasteurisation, optional concentration and drying, and aseptic filling, for gel, juice, concentrate and powder. It is a listed line for aloe, not a generic fruit-juice line.
What information do you need for a juice plant enquiry?
Tell us the fruit or vegetable, the feed form (juice, pulp or puree), the target concentration or product form, the capacity, the utilities available at site and where the plant will be built. Pilot data on your juice is the best basis for sizing.
Can I trial my juice before ordering equipment?
A pilot trial before committing to full-scale sizing is recommended on the evaporator pages, and our Process Development Centre covers pilot trials and scale-up. See also pilot plants and fruit and vegetable powder plants.
