Peanut Protein Extraction Plants — Mechotech

Peanut

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey protein extraction plants for Peanut (Arachis hypogaea). The product tree lists Peanut under Protein Extraction Plants, and the Sureka Life Sciences (SLS) catalogue lists Peanut Extract with protein as its offering grade. Mechotech’s published peanut case studies describe the verified routes for this raw material: a protein isolate plant (cold oil pressing, defatted-meal milling, protein extraction, solid–liquid separation, ultrafiltration and diafiltration, vacuum concentration and spray drying) and a protein hydrolysate plant (enzymatic hydrolysis, membrane purification, vacuum concentration and spray drying). The product form, grade and route are configured to the client’s target.

Mechotech’s Peanut plant is configured around the raw material and the target protein product. It is built in SS 316L with integrated membrane and concentration sections, automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. The route, the grade and the operating parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Peanut kernels are cleaned, graded and destoned and, where the plant starts from whole kernels, dehulled, blanched and sorted; plants fed with cold-pressed cake or defatted meal start at milling.

2

Oil Removal (where required)

Where the feed is not already defatted, cold mechanical pressing recovers the oil and leaves a protein-rich cake, as in Mechotech’s peanut protein isolate case study.

3

Defatted Meal Milling

The defatted material is milled to a uniform size ready for protein extraction.

4

Protein Extraction

Protein is extracted from the milled meal under controlled conditions, and the solids are separated from the protein solution. The extraction medium and conditions are set during process development.

5

Membrane Purification

Where a higher-protein product is targeted, the protein solution is purified by ultrafiltration and diafiltration, or for hydrolysate products by ultrafiltration and nanofiltration after enzymatic hydrolysis.

6

Vacuum Concentration

The purified protein stream is concentrated under vacuum at low temperature.

7

Spray Drying & Finishing

The concentrate is spray-dried to a powder, cooled and sieved where a powder is required, then released after assay, microbial and moisture testing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Peanut protein extraction?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for Peanut — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the Peanut protein plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for the peanut protein product; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation.
What production capacities are available for the Peanut plant?
Capacity is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which raw material and plant part does the Peanut plant process?
Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) kernel, as named in the Sureka Life Sciences catalogue. The feed can be shelled or blanched kernels, cold-pressed cake or defatted meal; which one the plant is fed is confirmed with the client.
How is peanut protein produced in the plant?
For an isolate, the kernels are cleaned and sorted, the oil is pressed out cold, the defatted meal is milled, protein is extracted and separated from the solids, then purified by ultrafiltration and diafiltration, concentrated under vacuum and spray-dried. For a hydrolysate, a protein slurry is hydrolysed with food-grade enzymes, the enzyme is inactivated, and the hydrolysate is purified by ultrafiltration and nanofiltration, concentrated and spray-dried.
What is the difference between the peanut protein isolate and hydrolysate routes?
The isolate route covers protein extraction and membrane purification to an isolate, while the hydrolysate route starts from an isolate or concentrate and adds enzymatic hydrolysis to produce peptides. They are different products on related lines; which one the plant makes is decided at project definition.
Which application areas are listed for peanut protein?
Typical application areas for peanut protein include sports nutrition, plant-based milk, protein powders, functional foods, bakery products, confectionery, nutritional beverages, clinical nutrition, nutraceuticals and pharmaceutical formulations. The Sureka Life Sciences entry also lists functional foods and nutraceuticals, along with health-related use areas that are catalogue entries and not claims by Mechotech.
Is the peanut protein route the same as a CO₂ route for peanut skins and kernels?
No. Mechotech also lists a CO₂ extraction route for peanut skins and kernels, which is a different product and route from the protein extraction described on this page. The protein route on this page is set during process development and pilot validation, and no technology count or ranking is implied.
Which related peanut and protein pages does Mechotech list?
Peanut Skins & Kernels Oil (CO₂) covers the CO₂ oil route for peanut, and the hub is Protein Extraction Plants. In the product tree, Peanut is followed by Soya Beans in the protein extraction group.
