Cedar Wood Wood / Bark Distillation Plants — Mechotech

Cedar Wood

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey wood / bark distillation plants for Cedar Wood. We supply the complete machinery to process Cedar Wood into an essential oil configured to the client’s target specification for fragrance, aromatherapy, flavour, cosmetic and related ingredient applications.

Mechotech’s Cedar Wood distillation plant is configured around the raw material and the target oil. It is built in SS 316L with integrated condensers and oil–water separation, PLC-based automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. The distillation mode is selected during process development. Cedar wood is a dense wood feedstock, so the line is built around chipping or shaving the wood and a still sized for dense charges. Mechotech lists several cedarwood pages, so the species, and with it the oil profile, is the first thing agreed with the client.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Cedar wood is cleaned, debarked where required and reduced to chips or shavings so that steam contacts the wood evenly; the feed form and charge density are set during process development once the species is confirmed.

2

Charging & Distillation

The prepared Cedar Wood charge is loaded into the SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro (hydrodistillation), vacuum, or pressure distillation — selected for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil.

3

Condensation

Vapours pass through an efficient multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation, condensing the volatile oil and hydrosol.

4

Oil–Water Separation

Condensate is separated in a stainless-steel Florentine flask; the essential oil is collected while the hydrosol is drawn off (and can be recovered as a co-product).

5

Polishing & Drying

The crude oil is polish-filtered and dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate (or by vacuum) to remove residual moisture.

6

Quality Control

Each batch of Cedar Wood oil is verified by GC-MS and physical parameters (specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation) before release.

Cedar Wood Distillation

This botanical is also in the product range of Sureka Life Sciences, our sister concern in botanical ingredients.

Applications

  • Skin-care and dermatology formulations
  • Aromatherapy: sleep and stress blends
  • Respiratory-support products
  • Natural pest-control and insect-repellent products
  • Perfumery and fragrance

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

All product-contact surfaces are SS 316L for corrosion resistance and product purity, with CIP capability between batches.

  • Efficient Condensation

High-surface-area multi-tube condensers with chilled-water circulation condense the volatile oil and hydrosol.

  • Wood-Charge Distillation

The still is configured for dense cedar wood charges, with the distillation mode and run time set against the confirmed species.

  • Hydrosol Recovery

Integrated separation allows the aromatic hydrosol to be recovered as a co-product.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Cedar Wood?
Yes. Mechotech is a cedarwood oil extraction plant manufacturer and equipment supplier, engineering and fabricating the complete turnkey plant for Cedar Wood at our Hyderabad facility, then installing and commissioning it as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the Cedar Wood plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for Cedar Wood. The specification that can be achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and each batch is released with batch-release testing and certificate-of-analysis documentation.
What production capacities are available for the Cedar Wood plant?
Capacity for the Cedar Wood plant is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which industries use the Cedar Wood plant?
Applications listed for cedar wood oil include skin-care and dermatology formulations, aromatherapy, respiratory-support products, natural pest-control and insect-repellent products, and perfumery. The end use and the target specification are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
Which part of Cedar Wood is processed in the distillation plant?
The catalogue places Cedar Wood under Wood / Bark Distillation Plants. The Sureka Life Sciences catalogue lists Cedrus deodara for Cedar Wood; the exact feed form (chips, shavings or bark) and the species are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How is Cedar Wood oil produced in the plant?
The prepared Cedar Wood charge is loaded into an SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil. Vapours are condensed in a multi-tube condenser, the oil and hydrosol are separated in a Florentine flask, and the crude oil is polish-filtered and dried before quality control.
Does Mechotech list other routes or related plants for Cedar Wood?
Atlas Cedar Wood and Virginian Cedar Wood are listed as separate distillation pages, and Cedarwood Cedrol Oil (CO₂) as a CO2 page; this page covers general cedar wood distillation.
How does the Cedar Wood page differ from the Atlas and Virginian cedarwood pages?
The pages cover different species. Atlas Cedar Wood lists Cedrus atlantica, Virginian Cedar Wood lists Juniperus virginiana, and this page is the general Cedar Wood entry, for which the Sureka Life Sciences catalogue lists Cedrus deodara with himachalene as the marker compound while the legacy listing names Cedrus, Juniperus or Cupressus species. The species is confirmed with the client; Cedarwood Cedrol Oil (CO₂) is the CO2 route.
