Ho wood Wood / Bark Distillation Plants — Mechotech

Ho wood

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey wood and bark distillation plants for Ho wood. The plant recovers essential oil from size-reduced wood by steam distillation for aromatherapy, perfumery, cosmetic and pharmaceutical topical use. The legacy page text for this entry describes Hinoki oil, so the species is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.

Mechotech’s Ho wood plant is configured around the raw material and the target oil. It is built in SS 316L with integrated condensers and oil–water separation, PLC-based automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. Dense wood needs size reduction, so charge preparation is set during process development. The distillation mode and operating parameters are established during process development and pilot validation. Ho wood is a dense wood feedstock, so the line is built around wood preparation (chips or shavings) and a still sized for dense charges. Because two catalogue sources name different species for this entry, the plant is configured only after the species is confirmed: the species decides the oil chemistry, the distillation run time and the target specification.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Ho wood is cleaned and reduced to chips or shavings so that steam contacts the wood evenly; dense wood is generally slower to give up its oil than leaf material, so the particle size and charge density are set during process development once the species is confirmed.

2

Charging & Distillation

The prepared Ho wood charge is loaded into the SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil.

3

Condensation

Vapours pass through a multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation, condensing the oil and hydrosol.

4

Oil–Water Separation

Condensate is separated in a stainless-steel Florentine flask; the oil is collected and the hydrosol is drawn off and can be recovered as a co-product.

5

Polishing & Drying

The crude oil is polish-filtered and dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate or by vacuum to remove residual moisture.

6

Quality Control

Each batch is sampled for GC-MS profile and physical parameters — specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation — against the client’s specification.

Plant Output

Ho wood essential oilAromatic hydrosol (co-product)

Applications

  • Aromatherapy and diffusion blends
  • Topical massage products
  • Skin-care and hair-care formulations
  • Natural perfumery
  • Cosmetics and personal care

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

Product-contact surfaces are SS 316L for corrosion resistance and product purity, with CIP capability between batches.

  • Efficient Condensation

Multi-tube condensers with chilled-water circulation condense the volatile oil and hydrosol and limit loss of volatile top-notes.

  • Wood-Charge Distillation

The still is configured for dense wood charges; the distillation mode and run time are set against the confirmed species and the client’s target oil.

  • Hydrosol Recovery

Integrated oil–water separation allows the aromatic hydrosol to be drawn off and recovered as a co-product.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Ho wood?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for Ho wood — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the Ho wood plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for Ho wood; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and each batch is released with batch-release testing and certificate-of-analysis documentation.
What production capacities are available for the Ho wood plant?
Capacity for the Ho wood plant is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which part of Ho wood is processed in the distillation plant?
The catalogue lists Ho wood under Wood / Bark Distillation Plants. The species and the exact feed form, such as chips or shavings, are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How is Ho wood oil produced in the plant?
The prepared Ho wood charge is loaded into an SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil. Vapours are condensed in a multi-tube condenser, the oil and hydrosol are separated in a Florentine flask, and the crude oil is polish-filtered and dried before GC-MS and physical-parameter testing.
What is the botanical source of Ho wood, and how does it relate to Hinoki?
Two catalogue sources disagree. The legacy page text describes Hinoki essential oil from Chamaecyparis obtusa wood (see Hinoki (Bark & Wood)), while the Sureka Life Sciences catalogue entry for Ho Wood Distillation lists Cinnamomum camphora with linalool (95–99%) as the marker compound. Neither reading is chosen on this page. White Camphor is listed as a separate page and the catalogue does not state whether it overlaps. The species and the feed form are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
Which related plants does the catalogue list with Ho wood?
The legacy catalogue lists these related wood and bark distillation plants: Agarwood (Oud), Amyris, Atlas Cedar Wood, Australian Sandal Wood Absolute, Blue Cypress and Buddha Wood. The hub is Wood / Bark Distillation Plants.
Why must the species be confirmed before the Ho wood plant is configured?
The two catalogue readings describe different oils: the legacy text describes Hinoki oil, valued for a mild, woody and citrusy aroma, while the Sureka Life Sciences entry lists Cinnamomum camphora with linalool at 95–99% as the marker compound. A different species means a different marker compound, a different target specification and a different distillation programme, so Mechotech asks for a sample of the client’s wood and agrees the species before sizing the still and condenser.
