Guaiac Wood Wood / Bark Distillation Plants — Mechotech

Guaiac Wood

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey wood and bark distillation plants for guaiac wood. The plant recovers essential oil from size-reduced wood by distillation for fragrance, aromatherapy and cosmetic use. The botanical species and feed form are not stated in Mechotech’s catalogue sources and are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.

Mechotech’s guaiac wood plant is configured around the raw material and the target oil. It is built in SS 316L with integrated condensers and oil–water separation, PLC-based automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. Dense wood needs size reduction and a longer run than leafy material, so charge preparation is set during process development. The distillation mode and operating parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Guaiac wood is cleaned and reduced to chips, shavings or sawdust so that steam contacts the wood evenly; the feed form is set during process development.

2

Charging & Distillation

The prepared Guaiac Wood charge is loaded into the SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil.

3

Condensation

Vapours pass through a multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation, condensing the oil and hydrosol.

4

Oil–Water Separation

Condensate is separated in a stainless-steel Florentine flask; the oil is collected and the hydrosol is drawn off and can be recovered as a co-product.

5

Polishing & Drying

The crude oil is polish-filtered and dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate or by vacuum to remove residual moisture.

6

Quality Control

Each batch is sampled for GC-MS profile and physical parameters — specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation — against the client’s specification.

From Plant to Product

Guaiac Wood Oil

This botanical is also in the product range of Sureka Life Sciences, our sister concern in botanical ingredients.

Applications

  • Aromatherapy and wellness product formulations
  • Natural perfumery and fine fragrance compositions
  • Cosmetics and personal care — moisturisers, serums, shampoos
  • Pharmaceutical topical formulations and liniments
  • Food flavouring and beverage applications (food-grade, where permitted)
  • Insect repellent and household cleaning product formulations
  • Spa and massage oil products
  • Natural air fresheners and home fragrance diffusers

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

Product-contact surfaces are SS 316L for corrosion resistance and product purity, with CIP capability between batches.

  • Efficient Condensation

Multi-tube condensers with chilled-water circulation condense the volatile oil and hydrosol and limit loss of volatile top-notes.

  • Configurable Distillation Mode

The still is configured for steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil.

  • Hydrosol Recovery

Integrated oil–water separation allows the aromatic hydrosol to be drawn off and recovered as a co-product.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Guaiac Wood?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for Guaiac Wood — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the Guaiac Wood plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for Guaiac Wood; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and each batch is released with batch-release testing and certificate-of-analysis documentation.
What production capacities are available for the Guaiac Wood plant?
Capacity for the Guaiac Wood plant is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which part of Guaiac Wood is processed in the distillation plant?
The catalogue lists Guaiac Wood under Wood / Bark Distillation Plants. The exact feed form, such as chips, shavings or sawdust, is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How is Guaiac Wood oil produced in the plant?
The prepared Guaiac Wood charge is loaded into an SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil. Vapours are condensed in a multi-tube condenser, the oil and hydrosol are separated in a Florentine flask, and the crude oil is polish-filtered and dried before GC-MS and physical-parameter testing.
What is the botanical source of guaiac wood?
The Sureka Life Sciences catalogue lists Guaiac Wood Oil as sourced from Bulnesia sarmientoi, with guaiol as the catalogue marker compound. The Mechotech catalogue entry itself does not state the species, so the botanical identification, the feed form and the sourcing documentation for the intended market are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
Which related plants does the catalogue list with Guaiac Wood?
The legacy catalogue lists these related wood and bark distillation plants: Agarwood (Oud), Amyris, Atlas Cedar Wood, Australian Sandal Wood Absolute, Blue Cypress and Buddha Wood. The hub is Wood / Bark Distillation Plants.
