Mechotech’s Boronia Absolute plant is configured around the delicate floral raw material and the target absolute. It is built in SS 316L with integrated solvent recovery, automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. Boronia flowers are small and delicate and their aroma is heat-sensitive, so the line is built around gentle solvent extraction of the flowers to a concrete, filtration, vacuum concentration and removal of solvent at low temperature.

Manufacturing Process
Raw Material Preparation
Boronia (Boronia megastigma) flowers are cleaned and sorted and handled gently so the delicate floral aroma is not lost; the harvest-to-extraction time and the feed form are confirmed with the client and set during process development.
Extraction
Milled Boronia Absolute is extracted with food-grade solvent (alcohol / aqueous) in closed jacketed SS 316L extractors under controlled temperature and multiple cycles to maximise recovery of the target actives.
Filtration
The extract (miscella) is clarified through a plate-and-frame filter press followed by cartridge polish filters.
Concentration & Solvent Recovery
The miscella is concentrated in a falling-film / vacuum evaporator, with solvent recovered through the condenser return system.
Standardisation
The concentrate is assayed and adjusted to the declared target specification before the final finishing step.
Finishing & Quality Control
The standardised Boronia Absolute extract is finished to the required product form (any drying or distillation step is defined during process development), then released after assay, residual-solvent, heavy-metal, microbial and moisture testing.
