Jasmine Floral Concrete & Absolute Extraction Plants — Mechotech

Jasmine

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey floral concrete and absolute extraction plants for jasmine (Jasminum spp.). Mechotech’s jasmine concrete and absolute pages describe processing the flowers of Jasminum grandiflorum (Spanish jasmine) and Jasminum sambac (Arabian jasmine) by food-grade hexane extraction followed by ethanol washing. The plant produces a floral concrete by solvent extraction of the flowers and an absolute by ethanol washing of the concrete, for perfumery, cosmetic and aromatherapy use. Mechotech lists separate distillation pages for each species.

Mechotech’s jasmine plant follows the floral-concrete route: extraction of fresh flowers with food-grade hexane to a concrete, filtration and quality check, ethanol washing of the concrete to an absolute, then ethanol recovery and concentration. It is built in SS 316L with solvent recovery, PLC-based automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. Jasmine flowers lose aroma quickly after picking and carry heat-sensitive aroma compounds, so the line is built around fast flower handling, gentle solvent extraction and low-temperature vacuum solvent removal. Solvents, temperatures and cycle times are established during process development and pilot validation.

Manufacturing Process

1

Floral Material Harvesting & Preparation

Fresh jasmine flowers are received, inspected and lightly cleaned. Jasmine aroma is perishable, so the time from harvest to extraction, and any flower holding before extraction, are set with the client.

2

Hexane Extraction (Concrete Production)

Flowers are extracted with food-grade hexane in closed SS 316L extraction vessels, and the solvent is stripped under vacuum to leave the floral concrete.

3

Concrete Filtration & Quality Check

The concrete is filtered and checked against the agreed specification before the absolute stage.

4

Ethanol Washing (Absolute Production)

The concrete is washed with ethanol, which dissolves the aromatic fraction and leaves the waxes largely undissolved.

5

Ethanol Recovery & Absolute Concentration

The ethanolic solution is filtered, concentrated under vacuum and the ethanol recovered, giving the absolute.

6

Quality Control & Packaging

The absolute is tested against the client’s specification — the jasmine absolute case study lists benzyl acetate, linalool, benzyl alcohol, indole, cis-jasmone, specific gravity, refractive index, residual solvent, colour and fragrance profile — and packed with batch documentation.

From Plant to Product

Jasmine Extract

This botanical is also in the product range of Sureka Life Sciences, our sister concern in botanical ingredients.

Applications

  • Luxury perfumes and fine fragrances
  • Premium cosmetics and personal-care products
  • Skin-care and hair-care products
  • Aromatherapy
  • High-end toiletries
  • Pharmaceutical fragrance ingredients

Key Features

  • Two-Stage Concrete-to-Absolute Route

The line produces a floral concrete first and then an absolute by ethanol washing, so either form can be taken as the finished product.

  • Aroma-Preserving Operation

Fast flower handling, gentle solvent extraction and low-temperature vacuum solvent removal are used to protect the heat-sensitive jasmine aroma compounds.

  • Closed-Loop Solvent Recovery

Hexane and ethanol are recovered through condenser-return systems and reused between batches.

  • Flammable-Solvent Safety

The case study lists explosion-proof electrical systems and closed-loop solvent handling for the solvent-handling areas; the final hazardous-area scope is confirmed per project.

  • SS 316L Construction

Product-contact surfaces are SS 316L, with CIP capability between batches.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Jasmine?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for Jasmine — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the Jasmine plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for Jasmine; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and each batch is released with batch-release testing and certificate-of-analysis documentation.
What production capacities are available for the Jasmine plant?
Capacity for the Jasmine plant is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which industries use the jasmine plant?
The end-use areas listed for jasmine on this page are given under Applications; they combine the areas listed by Sureka Life Sciences for jasmine extract and those in Mechotech’s jasmine absolute case study. The end use and the target specification are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
Which jasmine species and plant part does this page cover?
The Sureka Life Sciences catalogue lists jasmine extract from Jasminum spp. on the floral concrete and absolute route. Mechotech’s jasmine concrete and absolute page and its jasmine absolute case study describe fresh flowers of Jasminum grandiflorum and Jasminum sambac. The species and exact feed form are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How is jasmine absolute produced in the plant?
Fresh jasmine flowers are extracted with food-grade hexane in closed SS 316L vessels and the solvent is stripped under vacuum to a floral concrete. The concrete is filtered and checked, washed with ethanol to take up the aromatic fraction, and the ethanolic solution is filtered, concentrated under vacuum and the ethanol recovered to give the absolute, which is tested and packed. A concrete is the waxy solvent extract of the flowers; an absolute is made by washing the concrete with ethanol to leave most waxes behind, and the plant can supply either form.
Which marker or specification applies to jasmine extract?
The Sureka Life Sciences catalogue lists jasmine extract (Jasminum spp., floral concrete and absolute route) standardised to 70–75% flavonoids; this is a catalogue figure, not a Mechotech guarantee. Mechotech’s jasmine absolute case study lists different quality parameters — benzyl acetate, linalool, benzyl alcohol, indole and cis-jasmone among them. The parameters and levels for your flower supply are established during process development, and the specification is agreed with the buyer.
Does Mechotech offer jasmine by distillation as well?
Yes, as separate pages for each species. This page covers solvent extraction to a concrete and absolute. Jasmine ( Grandiflorum ) covers distillation of Jasminum grandiflorum flowers to an essential oil, and Jasmine ( Sambac ) covers the same route for Jasminum sambac. Mechotech’s legacy jasmine distillation page states that solvent extraction to an absolute is the preferred commercial route for capturing jasmine aroma, because key aroma compounds such as benzyl benzoate, phytol and indole do not distil efficiently with steam, while distilled jasmine oil has a lighter, distinct character.
Has Mechotech delivered a jasmine absolute plant?
Mechotech has published a case study of a turnkey jasmine absolute extraction plant for fresh Jasminum grandiflorum and Jasminum sambac flowers, linked from this page. Its client details and figures are specific to that project and are not a specification for another plant; the plant for your project is configured to your flowers, capacity and target specification.
Which related floral plants does Mechotech list with jasmine?
Other floral concrete and absolute pages include Frangipani, Cassie, Tuberose and Rose Concrete & Absolute. For floral distillation see Rose Essential Oil and the hub pages Floral Concrete & Absolute Extraction Plants and Flower & Buds Oils Distillation Plants.
