Rose Essential Oil Flower & Buds Oils Distillation Plants — Mechotech

Rose Essential Oil

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey flower & buds oils distillation plants for Rose. The product tree lists the entry as Rose (Flower) under Flower & Buds Oils Distillation Plants. Mechotech’s legacy page for the Rose Flower Distillation Plant describes hydro-distillation of Rosa damascena petals to produce rose essential oil (rose otto) and rose water (the hydrosol), using copper or stainless-steel pot stills with stainless-steel condensers and a hydrosol return (cohobation) to recover water-soluble aroma compounds such as 2-phenylethanol. The Sureka Life Sciences (SLS) catalogue lists Rose Distillation with Rosa Indica as the botanical source and citronellol as the offering grade, which differs from the legacy species. This page is the distillation route; the concrete and absolute route is on a separate page.

Mechotech’s Rose plant is configured around the raw material and the target oil. It is built in SS 316L with integrated condensers and oil–water separation, PLC-based automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. The distillation mode and operating parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Fresh rose petals are collected and prepared promptly after picking, sorted and cleaned of stalks and debris, and charged to the still without compaction so that water and steam circulate evenly; the legacy page describes the work as time-sensitive, and the handling is set during process development.

2

Charging & Distillation

The prepared Rose charge is loaded into the SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil. For rose, Mechotech’s legacy page describes hydro-distillation in a pot still and a hydrosol return (cohobation) that recycles the collected rose water to the still to recover water-soluble aroma compounds; whether cohobation is included is agreed with the client.

3

Condensation

Vapours pass through a multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation, condensing the oil and hydrosol.

4

Oil–Water Separation

Condensate is separated in a stainless-steel Florentine flask; the oil is collected and the hydrosol is drawn off and can be recovered as a co-product.

5

Polishing & Drying

The crude oil is polish-filtered and dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate or by vacuum to remove residual moisture.

6

Quality Control

Each batch is sampled for GC-MS profile and physical parameters — specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation — against the client’s specification.

Rose Distillation

This botanical is also in the product range of Sureka Life Sciences, our sister concern in botanical ingredients.

Applications

  • Fine perfumery and natural fragrance compositions (per Mechotech’s legacy page)
  • Cosmetics and personal-care products such as creams, serums and body oils (per the legacy page)
  • Rose water (hydrosol) for toners, food flavouring and traditional preparations (per the legacy page)
  • Aromatherapy blends (per the legacy page)

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

Product-contact surfaces are SS 316L for corrosion resistance and product purity, with CIP capability between batches.

  • Efficient Condensation

Multi-tube condensers with chilled-water circulation condense the volatile oil and hydrosol and limit loss of volatile top-notes.

  • Configurable Distillation Mode

The still is configured for hydro, steam, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development; Mechotech’s legacy page describes hydro-distillation of rose petals, with copper or stainless-steel pot stills and a hydrosol return as options.

  • Hydrosol Recovery

Integrated oil–water separation allows the aromatic hydrosol to be drawn off and recovered as a co-product.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Rose?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for Rose — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the Rose plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for Rose; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and batch-release testing with certificate-of-analysis documentation is defined with the client.
What production capacities are available for the Rose plant?
Capacity for the Rose plant is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which end uses are listed for the Rose plant?
For this oil, the Sureka Life Sciences catalogue lists skin rejuvenation, anti-inflammatory and healing, and antimicrobial uses, with mental wellness and women’s health in its description, among its application areas; these are catalogue use areas, not performance claims by Mechotech.
Which part of Rose is processed in the distillation plant?
The product tree lists Rose (Flower) under Flower & Buds Oils Distillation Plants, and Mechotech’s legacy page describes fresh rose petals. The exact form and the time between picking and distillation are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How is Rose oil produced in the plant?
The prepared Rose charge is loaded into an SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil. Vapours are condensed in a multi-tube condenser, the oil and hydrosol are separated in a Florentine flask, and the crude oil is polish-filtered and dried before GC-MS and physical-parameter testing.
Which rose species is on this page?
Mechotech’s legacy page for the Rose Flower Distillation Plant names Rosa damascena, while the Sureka Life Sciences catalogue entry for Rose Distillation lists Rosa Indica. The product tree names no species. The sources conflict, so this page records both and does not choose; the species and cultivar the client wants are confirmed before the plant is configured.
What is rose water, and is it produced in this plant?
Mechotech’s legacy page describes rose water, the hydrosol collected from the condensate, as the larger-volume product and a primary co-product of rose distillation, used in toners, food flavouring and traditional preparations. The plant draws off the hydrosol in the oil–water separation step; whether it is collected, returned to the still by cohobation or bottled is agreed with the client.
How does this page differ from the other Rose pages?
Rose Concrete & Absolute is the concrete and absolute route for rose, a solvent extraction rather than a distillation, so the product, the route and the specification differ. Flower - Roses is the natural colour entry, Rose Hip Extract Powder is a fruit extract, and Rose Geranium and Rose wood are leaf and wood oils from other plants. Confirm which route and raw material are wanted.
Which neighbouring plants does the product tree list with Rose?
Mechotech’s product tree lists these plants next to Rose (Flower): Roman Chamomile, Tagetes and Tube Rose. The hub is Flower & Buds Oils Distillation Plants.
