Sugandha Bala Roots / Husk Distillation Plants — Mechotech

Sugandha Bala

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey roots / husk distillation plants for Sugandha Bala. The product tree lists the entry under Roots / Husk Distillation Plants, and Mechotech’s legacy page describes steam distillation of Sugandha Bala essential oil from the rhizomes of Acorus calamus. The Sureka Life Sciences (SLS) catalogue lists Sugandha Bala Distillation with Valeriana wallichii as the botanical source and valepotriates as the offering grade. The two sources name different plants, and the product tree also lists Calamus and Valerian as separate entries, so the species is not settled and is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.

Mechotech’s Sugandha Bala plant is configured around the raw material and the target oil. It is built in SS 316L with integrated condensers and oil–water separation, PLC-based automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. The distillation mode and operating parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Sugandha Bala roots and rhizomes are cleaned of soil and cut or crushed, as agreed with the client, so that the charge packs evenly in the still and steam can reach the root tissue; the particle size and whether the material is fresh or dried are set during process development.

2

Charging & Distillation

The prepared Sugandha Bala charge is loaded into the SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil.

3

Condensation

Vapours pass through a multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation, condensing the oil and hydrosol.

4

Oil–Water Separation

Condensate is separated in a stainless-steel Florentine flask; the oil is collected and the hydrosol is drawn off and can be recovered as a co-product.

5

Polishing & Drying

The crude oil is polish-filtered and dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate or by vacuum to remove residual moisture.

6

Quality Control

Each batch is sampled for GC-MS profile and physical parameters — specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation — against the client’s specification.

Major Plant Equipment

  • Root washing, cutting and size-reduction system
  • Perforated basket or false-bottom charge support
  • SS 316L distillation still / extractor
  • Multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation
  • Stainless-steel Florentine flask (oil–water separator)
  • Polish filtration system
  • Drying unit (anhydrous sodium sulphate or vacuum)
  • CIP system

Plant Output

Sugandha Bala essential oilAromatic hydrosol (co-product)

Applications

  • Massage products
  • Aromatherapy and diffusion
  • Cosmetic and bath products (catalogue use area)
  • Ayurvedic, perfumery and pharmaceutical uses (per Mechotech’s legacy page)

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

Product-contact surfaces are SS 316L for corrosion resistance and product purity, with CIP capability between batches.

  • Efficient Condensation

Multi-tube condensers with chilled-water circulation condense the volatile oil and hydrosol and limit loss of volatile top-notes.

  • Configurable Distillation Mode

The still is configured for steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the dense root feedstock and the target oil.

  • Hydrosol Recovery

Integrated oil–water separation allows the aromatic hydrosol to be drawn off and recovered as a co-product.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Sugandha Bala?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for Sugandha Bala — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the Sugandha Bala plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for Sugandha Bala; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and batch-release testing with certificate-of-analysis documentation is defined with the client.
What production capacities are available for the Sugandha Bala plant?
Capacity for the Sugandha Bala plant is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which application areas does the catalogue list for the Sugandha Bala plant?
For this oil, the Sureka Life Sciences catalogue lists massage therapy, steam inhalation, diffusion, and cosmetics and bathing among its application areas; these are catalogue use areas, not performance claims by Mechotech.
Which part of Sugandha Bala is processed in the distillation plant?
The product tree lists Sugandha Bala under Roots / Husk Distillation Plants, and Mechotech’s legacy page describes the rhizomes. The exact form, fresh or dried, cut or crushed, is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How is Sugandha Bala oil produced in the plant?
The prepared Sugandha Bala charge is loaded into an SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil. Vapours are condensed in a multi-tube condenser, the oil and hydrosol are separated in a Florentine flask, and the crude oil is polish-filtered and dried before GC-MS and physical-parameter testing.
Which plant is Sugandha Bala on this page?
The sources disagree. Mechotech’s legacy page names Acorus calamus (calamus), while the Sureka Life Sciences catalogue lists Valeriana wallichii with valepotriates. The product tree lists Calamus and Valerian as separate entries. This page records both and does not choose; the species and the target oil are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
Why is the catalogue CAS number not used here?
The Sureka Life Sciences catalogue gives CAS 8008-88-6 for its Sugandha Bala, Sugandha Kokila and Sugandha Mantri distillation entries and for its Valerian Distillation entry, which are different plants. The sources do not explain the overlap, so no CAS number is stated on this page; the oil specification and its identification are confirmed with the client.
How does Sugandha Bala differ from the other Sugandha pages?
Sugandha Mantri is a root oil from Homalomena aromatica and Sugandha Kokila is a berry oil from Cinnamomum glaucescens, so the plant, the part and the oil differ. Confirm which one is wanted before choosing a page.
Which neighbouring plants does the product tree list with Sugandha Bala?
Mechotech’s product tree lists these plants next to Sugandha Bala: Spikenard and Sugandha Mantri. The hub is Roots / Husk Distillation Plants.
