Flowers - Tea Tree / Yarrow / Black Eyed Susans Natural Colour Extraction Plants — Mechotech

Flowers - Tea Tree / Yarrow / Black Eyed Susans

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey natural colour extraction plants for tea tree, yarrow and black-eyed Susan flowers. In the Mechotech catalogue, Flowers - Tea Tree / Yarrow / Black Eyed Susans is listed in the Green Colour group alongside Leaves - Spinach / Chamomile / Nettle, Plant - Larkspur / Dyer's Broom and Skins - Red Onions. The catalogue lists three different plants in one entry and does not state a botanical name for each, so the species are a confirmation item before plant configuration. Tea tree and yarrow also have separate pages for oil distillation, CO2 extraction and flavonoid recovery; this page covers colour extraction only.

Mechotech’s Tea Tree / Yarrow / Black-Eyed Susan plant is configured around the raw material and the target colour extract. It is built in SS 316L with integrated solvent recovery, automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. Because the entry combines three plants, the plant is configured to process them in separate campaigns where their solvent systems differ. Final parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Flowers of each plant are sorted and cleaned of foreign matter; where the three are processed separately they are kept as separate lots, then dried if required and milled or crushed to a size suited to solvent contact.

2

Extraction

The prepared tea tree, yarrow and black-eyed Susan flowers is extracted with food-grade solvent (alcohol / aqueous) in closed jacketed SS 316L extractors at controlled temperature and over multiple cycles to recover the target colour compounds.

3

Filtration

The extract (miscella) is clarified through a plate-and-frame filter press followed by cartridge polish filters.

4

Concentration & Solvent Recovery

The miscella is concentrated in a falling-film / vacuum evaporator, with solvent recovered through the condenser return system so that heat exposure of the pigment stays low.

5

Standardisation

The concentrate is assayed for colour strength and adjusted to the declared target specification before the final finishing step.

6

Drying & Quality Control

The standardised Flowers - Tea Tree / Yarrow / Black Eyed Susans extract is spray- or vacuum-dried where a powder is required, then released after the agreed assay, residual-solvent, heavy-metal, microbial and moisture tests.
