Yarrow Leaves Oils Distillation Plants — Mechotech

Yarrow

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey leaves oils distillation plants for Yarrow. The product tree lists the entry as Yarrow (Leaves / Flowers / Buds), and Mechotech’s legacy page describes steam distillation of yarrow essential oil from the leaves, flowers and buds of Achillea millefolium, for aromatherapy and skincare among other uses. The Sureka Life Sciences (SLS) catalogue has no yarrow entry, so no marker or assay is stated. Yarrow is also processed on a separate Mechotech page as a flower flavonoid extract; that is a different product and route. The exact feed form is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.

Mechotech’s Yarrow plant is configured around the raw material and the target oil. It is built in SS 316L with integrated condensers and oil–water separation, PLC-based automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. The distillation mode and operating parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Yarrow herb is cleaned and sorted, and size-reduced where required, so that the charge packs evenly in the still and steam can reach the tissue; whether the herb is fresh or dried, and the handling of the flowering tops, are set during process development.

2

Charging & Distillation

The prepared Yarrow charge is loaded into the SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil.

3

Condensation

Vapours pass through a multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation, condensing the oil and hydrosol.

4

Oil–Water Separation

Condensate is separated in a stainless-steel Florentine flask; the oil is collected and the hydrosol is drawn off and can be recovered as a co-product.

5

Polishing & Drying

The crude oil is polish-filtered and dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate or by vacuum to remove residual moisture.

6

Quality Control

Each batch is sampled for GC-MS profile and physical parameters — specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation — against the client’s specification.

Major Plant Equipment

  • Herb cleaning and size-reduction system
  • Perforated basket or false-bottom charge support
  • SS 316L distillation still / extractor
  • Multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation
  • Stainless-steel Florentine flask (oil–water separator)
  • Polish filtration system
  • Drying unit (anhydrous sodium sulphate or vacuum)
  • CIP system
  • PLC-based automation and instrumentation

Plant Output

Yarrow essential oilAromatic hydrosol (co-product)

Applications

  • Aromatherapy applications (per Mechotech’s legacy page)
  • Skin-care products (per the legacy page)
  • Fragrance and personal-care uses, to be defined with the client

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

Product-contact surfaces are SS 316L for corrosion resistance and product purity, with CIP capability between batches.

  • Efficient Condensation

Multi-tube condensers with chilled-water circulation condense the volatile oil and hydrosol and limit loss of volatile top-notes.

  • Configurable Distillation Mode

The still is configured for steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the herb charge and the target oil.

  • Hydrosol Recovery

Integrated oil–water separation allows the aromatic hydrosol to be drawn off and recovered as a co-product.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Yarrow?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for Yarrow — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the Yarrow plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for Yarrow; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and batch-release testing with certificate-of-analysis documentation is defined with the client.
What production capacities are available for the Yarrow plant?
Capacity for the Yarrow plant is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which end uses are listed for the Yarrow plant?
The Sureka Life Sciences catalogue has no yarrow entry, so no catalogue use areas are listed; Mechotech’s legacy page names aromatherapy and skincare among the uses, and end uses are confirmed with the client.
Which part of Yarrow is processed in the distillation plant?
The product tree lists Yarrow as leaves, flowers and buds, under Leaves Oils Distillation Plants, and Mechotech’s legacy page describes distillation of the leaves, flowers and buds of Achillea millefolium. The exact feed form, fresh or dried, is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How is Yarrow oil produced in the plant?
The prepared Yarrow charge is loaded into an SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil. Vapours are condensed in a multi-tube condenser, the oil and hydrosol are separated in a Florentine flask, and the crude oil is polish-filtered and dried before GC-MS and physical-parameter testing.
What is the marker compound of yarrow oil?
No Mechotech or Sureka Life Sciences source states one, and the catalogue has no yarrow entry. The marker, the percentage and the assay method are confirmed with the client during process development.
How does this page differ from the Yarrow flower extract page?
Yarrow Flower Flavonoid Extract is a separate extraction product from yarrow flowers with flavonoids as the target, and the product tree’s Flowers - Tea Tree / Yarrow / Black Eyed Susans is a natural colour entry. This page is the essential oil distillation route; the part, the route and the product differ.
Which neighbouring plants does the product tree list with Yarrow?
Mechotech’s product tree lists Yarrow (Leaves / Flowers / Buds) last in its group, after Xanthoxylum / Timur and WinterGreen. The hub is Leaves Oils Distillation Plants.
