Rosemary Leaves Oils Distillation Plants — Mechotech

Rosemary

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey leaves oils distillation plants for Rosemary. The product tree lists the entry as Rosemary (Leaves / Flowers / Buds), and the page covers distillation of rosemary essential oil. The Sureka Life Sciences (SLS) catalogue lists Rosemary Leaves Distillation with Salvia rosmarinus as the botanical source and a 15–53% 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol) offering grade. Rosemary is also processed on Mechotech’s herbal extraction line to a carnosic acid extract; that is a different product and route and has its own page. The exact feed form, fresh or dried leaves and flowering tops, is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.

Mechotech’s Rosemary plant is configured around the raw material and the target oil. It is built in SS 316L with integrated condensers and oil–water separation, PLC-based automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. The distillation mode and operating parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Rosemary herb is cleaned and sorted, and size-reduced where required, so that the charge packs evenly in the still and steam can reach the leaf tissue; whether the herb is fresh or dried, and the particle size, are set during process development.

2

Charging & Distillation

The prepared Rosemary charge is loaded into the SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil.

3

Condensation

Vapours pass through a multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation, condensing the oil and hydrosol.

4

Oil–Water Separation

Condensate is separated in a stainless-steel Florentine flask; the oil is collected and the hydrosol is drawn off and can be recovered as a co-product.

5

Polishing & Drying

The crude oil is polish-filtered and dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate or by vacuum to remove residual moisture.

6

Quality Control

Each batch is sampled for GC-MS profile and physical parameters — specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation — against the client’s specification.

Major Plant Equipment

  • Herb cleaning and size-reduction system
  • Perforated basket or false-bottom charge support
  • SS 316L distillation still / extractor
  • Multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation
  • Stainless-steel Florentine flask (oil–water separator)
  • Polish filtration system
  • Drying unit (anhydrous sodium sulphate or vacuum)
  • CIP system

Plant Output

Rosemary essential oilAromatic hydrosol (co-product)

Applications

  • Hair and scalp-care products
  • Muscle and pain-relief products
  • Aromatherapy applications
  • Skin-care products
  • Hair and skin-hydration products from the hydrosol (catalogue use area)

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

Product-contact surfaces are SS 316L for corrosion resistance and product purity, with CIP capability between batches.

  • Efficient Condensation

Multi-tube condensers with chilled-water circulation condense the volatile oil and hydrosol and limit loss of volatile top-notes.

  • Configurable Distillation Mode

The still is configured for steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the herb charge and the target oil.

  • Hydrosol Recovery

Integrated oil–water separation allows the aromatic hydrosol to be drawn off and recovered as a co-product.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Rosemary?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for Rosemary — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the Rosemary plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for Rosemary; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and batch-release testing with certificate-of-analysis documentation is defined with the client.
What production capacities are available for the Rosemary plant?
Capacity for the Rosemary plant is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which end uses are listed for the Rosemary plant?
For this oil, the Sureka Life Sciences catalogue lists hair and scalp health, pain relief and muscle soreness, aromatherapy, memory and focus, skin care, and skin and hair hydration from the distillate (hydrosol) among its application areas; these are catalogue use areas, not performance claims by Mechotech.
Which part of Rosemary is processed in the distillation plant?
The product tree lists Rosemary as leaves, flowers and buds, under Leaves Oils Distillation Plants. The exact feed form, such as fresh or dried herb, is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How is Rosemary oil produced in the plant?
The prepared Rosemary charge is loaded into an SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil. Vapours are condensed in a multi-tube condenser, the oil and hydrosol are separated in a Florentine flask, and the crude oil is polish-filtered and dried before GC-MS and physical-parameter testing.
What is the botanical source and marker compound of Rosemary on this page?
The Sureka Life Sciences catalogue entry for Rosemary Leaves Distillation lists Salvia rosmarinus as the botanical source and 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol) as the marker compound, with a 15–53% offering grade (CAS 8000-25-7 in that entry). The range is wide and is a catalogue figure for the offered oil, not a Mechotech guarantee. The target oil specification is confirmed with the client during process development.
How does the distillation page differ from the Rosemary extract page?
Rosmarinus Officinalis Extract is the herbal extraction of rosemary to a carnosic acid extract (catalogue figure: 6% to 15% carnosic acid by HPLC), a solvent route with a different product, specification and plant. This page is the essential oil distillation route. Rosemary is also listed among the essential oils and aroma extracts on the SCFE – Supercritical CO2 Extraction Plant page, a separate CO2 route. Confirm which product and route are wanted.
Which neighbouring plants does the product tree list with Rosemary?
Mechotech’s product tree lists these plants next to Rosemary (Leaves / Flowers / Buds): Rose Geranium, Saro and Spearmint. The hub is Leaves Oils Distillation Plants.
