WinterGreen Leaves Oils Distillation Plants — Mechotech

WinterGreen

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey leaves oils distillation plants for WinterGreen. The product tree lists the entry as WinterGreen (Leaves), and Mechotech’s legacy page describes steam distillation of wintergreen essential oil, which it says is rich in methyl salicylate. Mechotech’s legacy page overview names no species and gives no percentage. The Sureka Life Sciences (SLS) catalogue lists Winter Green Leaves Distillation, sourced from Gaultheria procumbens and offered with 96–99% methyl salicylate as the grade (CAS 68917-75-9). The species, the leaf form, the methyl salicylate level and the assay are confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.

Mechotech’s WinterGreen plant is configured around the raw material and the target oil. It is built in SS 316L with integrated condensers and oil–water separation, PLC-based automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. The distillation mode and operating parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Wintergreen leaves are cleaned and sorted and, where required, size-reduced so that the charge packs evenly in the still and steam can reach the leaf tissue; whether the leaf is fresh or dried, and any pre-treatment, are set during process development.

2

Charging & Distillation

The prepared WinterGreen charge is loaded into the SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil.

3

Condensation

Vapours pass through a multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation, condensing the oil and hydrosol.

4

Oil–Water Separation

Condensate is separated in a stainless-steel Florentine flask; the oil is collected and the hydrosol is drawn off and can be recovered as a co-product.

5

Polishing & Drying

The crude oil is polish-filtered and dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate or by vacuum to remove residual moisture.

6

Quality Control

Each batch is sampled for GC-MS profile and physical parameters — specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation — against the client’s specification.

Major Plant Equipment

  • Leaf cleaning and size-reduction system
  • Perforated basket or false-bottom charge support
  • SS 316L distillation still / extractor
  • Multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation
  • Stainless-steel Florentine flask (oil–water separator)
  • Polish filtration system
  • Drying unit (anhydrous sodium sulphate or vacuum)
  • CIP system
  • PLC-based automation and instrumentation

Plant Output

WinterGreen essential oilAromatic hydrosol (co-product)

Applications

  • Pharmaceutical and cosmetic uses (per Mechotech’s legacy page)
  • Topical formulations (catalogue use area)
  • Aromatherapy (catalogue use area)
  • Flavouring and scents (catalogue use area)

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

Product-contact surfaces are SS 316L for corrosion resistance and product purity, with CIP capability between batches.

  • Efficient Condensation

Multi-tube condensers with chilled-water circulation condense the volatile oil and hydrosol and limit loss of volatile top-notes.

  • Configurable Distillation Mode

The still is configured for steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the herb charge and the target oil.

  • Hydrosol Recovery

Integrated oil–water separation allows the aromatic hydrosol to be drawn off and recovered as a co-product.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for WinterGreen?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for WinterGreen — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the WinterGreen plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for WinterGreen; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and batch-release testing with certificate-of-analysis documentation is defined with the client.
What production capacities are available for the WinterGreen plant?
Capacity for the WinterGreen plant is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which end uses are listed for the WinterGreen plant?
The Sureka Life Sciences entry lists topical formulations, aromatherapy and flavouring and scents as use areas, and Mechotech’s legacy page names pharmaceuticals and cosmetics; these are catalogue use areas, not performance claims by Mechotech.
Which part of WinterGreen is processed in the distillation plant?
The product tree lists WinterGreen as leaves, under Leaves Oils Distillation Plants, and Mechotech’s legacy page describes distillation of the leaves. The exact feed form, fresh or dried, is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How is Wintergreen oil produced in the plant?
The prepared Wintergreen charge is loaded into an SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil. Vapours are condensed in a multi-tube condenser, the oil and hydrosol are separated in a Florentine flask, and the crude oil is polish-filtered and dried before GC-MS and physical-parameter testing.
Which plant is WinterGreen, and what is the marker compound?
Mechotech’s legacy page names no species and says only that the oil is rich in methyl salicylate. The Sureka Life Sciences entry names Gaultheria procumbens and lists 96–99% methyl salicylate (CAS 68917-75-9) as a catalogue figure, not a delivered specification, so the species, the methyl salicylate level and the assay method are confirmed with the client during process development.
Is methyl salicylate a point to confirm?
Methyl salicylate is a potent compound whose permitted use can depend on the product and market, and no Mechotech source states a limit. The intended use, the applicable limits and the specification are therefore confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
Which neighbouring plants does the product tree list with WinterGreen?
Mechotech’s product tree lists these plants next to WinterGreen (Leaves): Turmeric (leaves) and Xanthoxylum / Timur. The hub is Leaves Oils Distillation Plants.
