Saro Leaves Oils Distillation Plants — Mechotech

Saro

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey leaves oils distillation plants for Saro. The product tree lists the entry as Saro (Leaves), and Mechotech’s legacy page describes steam distillation of saro essential oil from fresh or dried leaves of Cinnamosma fragrans, a plant native to Madagascar. The Sureka Life Sciences (SLS) catalogue lists Saro Leaves Distillation with Cinnamosma fragrans as the botanical source and an offering grade of about 40–50% 1,8-cineole. The exact feed form is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.

Mechotech’s Saro plant is configured around the raw material and the target oil. It is built in SS 316L with integrated condensers and oil–water separation, PLC-based automation and full documentation, and is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system. The distillation mode and operating parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Saro leaves are cleaned and sorted, and size-reduced where required, so that the charge packs evenly in the still and steam can reach the leaf tissue; whether the leaf is fresh or dried, and the particle size, are set during process development.

2

Charging & Distillation

The prepared Saro charge is loaded into the SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil.

3

Condensation

Vapours pass through a multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation, condensing the oil and hydrosol.

4

Oil–Water Separation

Condensate is separated in a stainless-steel Florentine flask; the oil is collected and the hydrosol is drawn off and can be recovered as a co-product.

5

Polishing & Drying

The crude oil is polish-filtered and dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate or by vacuum to remove residual moisture.

6

Quality Control

Each batch is sampled for GC-MS profile and physical parameters — specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation — against the client’s specification.

Major Plant Equipment

  • Leaf cleaning and size-reduction system
  • Perforated basket or false-bottom charge support
  • SS 316L distillation still / extractor
  • Multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation
  • Stainless-steel Florentine flask (oil–water separator)
  • Polish filtration system
  • Drying unit (anhydrous sodium sulphate or vacuum)
  • CIP system

Plant Output

Saro essential oilAromatic hydrosol (co-product)

Applications

  • Aromatherapy and diffusion
  • Respiratory-support products (catalogue use area)
  • Topical and muscle-care products
  • Stress-relief and wellness applications (catalogue use area)

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

Product-contact surfaces are SS 316L for corrosion resistance and product purity, with CIP capability between batches.

  • Efficient Condensation

Multi-tube condensers with chilled-water circulation condense the volatile oil and hydrosol and limit loss of volatile top-notes.

  • Configurable Distillation Mode

The still is configured for steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected during process development for the leaf charge and the target oil.

  • Hydrosol Recovery

Integrated oil–water separation allows the aromatic hydrosol to be drawn off and recovered as a co-product.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Saro?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for Saro — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system. Final process parameters are established during process development and pilot validation.
What specification can the Saro plant achieve?
The plant is configured to the client’s target specification for Saro; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and batch-release testing with certificate-of-analysis documentation is defined with the client.
What production capacities are available for the Saro plant?
Capacity for the Saro plant is configured to raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume and investment timeline, starting at pilot scale; a pilot plant is recommended to validate parameters before scaling.
Which end uses are listed for the Saro plant?
For this oil, the Sureka Life Sciences catalogue lists respiratory support, immune and antimicrobial defence, pain relief and wound healing, and stress and fatigue among its application areas; these are catalogue use areas, not performance claims by Mechotech.
Which part of Saro is processed in the distillation plant?
The product tree lists Saro as leaves, under Leaves Oils Distillation Plants, and Mechotech’s legacy page describes steam distillation of the oil from fresh or dried leaves. The exact feed form is confirmed with the client before the plant is configured.
How is Saro oil produced in the plant?
The prepared Saro charge is loaded into an SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation, selected for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil. Vapours are condensed in a multi-tube condenser, the oil and hydrosol are separated in a Florentine flask, and the crude oil is polish-filtered and dried before GC-MS and physical-parameter testing.
What is the botanical source and marker compound of Saro on this page?
The Sureka Life Sciences catalogue entry for Saro Leaves Distillation lists Cinnamosma fragrans as the botanical source and 1,8-cineole as the marker compound, with an offering grade of about 40–50% 1,8-cineole. Mechotech’s legacy page also names Cinnamosma fragrans and describes the plant as native to Madagascar. The figure is a catalogue figure for the offered oil and not a Mechotech guarantee, and the target oil specification is confirmed with the client during process development.
Why is the catalogue registry number for saro not used here?
The Sureka Life Sciences entry gives the number 926-903-8 in its CAS field, which has the layout of a European (EC) number rather than a CAS registry number. The sources do not explain the entry, so no registry number is stated on this page; the oil specification and its identification are confirmed with the client.
Is saro the same as other 1,8-cineole oils?
No. Saro (Cinnamosma fragrans) is a separate raw material with its own page. Other leaf oils in the catalogue also list 1,8-cineole as a marker, for example Rosemary, whose Sureka Life Sciences entry lists a 15–53% 1,8-cineole offering grade, and the eucalyptus pages. The marker is shared, but the plant, the oil and the specification differ, so confirm which oil is wanted.
Which neighbouring plants does the product tree list with Saro?
Mechotech’s product tree lists these plants next to Saro (Leaves): Rosemary and Spearmint. They are different raw materials, each with its own marker and oil. The hub is Leaves Oils Distillation Plants.
