Basil — Leaves

Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey leaves oils distillation plants for Basil (Ocimum basilicum). As a basil oil extraction plant manufacturer, we supply the complete machinery — steam distillation being the extraction method used — to process Basil into an essential oil configured to the client’s target specification for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, and fragrance industries.

Mechotech's Basil plant is configured around the specific chemistry and processing requirements of Basil. Built in SS 316L with integrated condensers and oil-water separation, PLC-based automation, and full documentation, each plant is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system.

Manufacturing Process

1

Raw Material Preparation

Basil raw material is cleaned, sorted, and (where required) comminuted to the optimal particle size to maximise oil release during distillation.

2

Charging & Distillation

The prepared Basil charge is loaded into the SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro (hydrodistillation), vacuum, or pressure distillation — selected for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the target oil.

3

Condensation

Vapours pass through an efficient multi-tube condenser with chilled-water circulation, condensing the volatile oil and hydrosol.

4

Oil–Water Separation

Condensate is separated in a stainless-steel Florentine flask; the essential oil is collected while the hydrosol is drawn off (and can be recovered as a co-product).

5

Polishing & Drying

The crude oil is polish-filtered and dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate (or by vacuum) to remove residual moisture.

6

Quality Control

Each batch of Basil oil is verified by GC-MS and physical parameters (specific gravity, refractive index, optical rotation) before release.

Basil Leaves Distillation

This botanical is also in the product range of Sureka Life Sciences, our sister concern in botanical ingredients.

Applications

  • Aromatherapy, fragrance, perfumery, and flavour applications
  • Pharmaceutical standardised ingredient supply
  • Nutraceutical capsule, tablet, and supplement manufacturing
  • Food, flavour, and beverage applications
  • Cosmetic and personal care active ingredients
  • Ayurvedic and traditional medicine preparations
  • Export to regulated-market ingredient buyers

Key Features

  • SS 316L Construction

All product-contact surfaces are SS 316L for corrosion resistance and product purity, with CIP capability between batches.

  • Efficient Condensation

High-surface-area multi-tube condensers with chilled-water circulation maximise oil recovery and minimise losses of volatile top-notes.

  • Distillation Still / Extraction Equipment

The still — the core extraction equipment — is configured for the distillation mode best suited to the feedstock, protecting heat-sensitive aroma compounds.

  • Hydrosol Recovery

Integrated separation allows recovery of the aromatic hydrosol as a co-product.

  • Scalable Capacity

Plants are configured from pilot to commercial scale with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Basil?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for Basil — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed, and commissioned as a single integrated system.
What specification can the Basil plant achieve?
The plant is engineered to reach the client's target specification for Basil, confirmed by batch-release testing with full certificate-of-analysis documentation.
What production capacities are available for the Basil plant?
Mechotech builds Basil plants from pilot systems for product development to commercial-scale plants. Capacity is selected from raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume, and investment timeline; we recommend a pilot plant to validate parameters before scaling.
Which industries use the Basil plant?
Pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food and flavour, cosmetic, and fragrance manufacturers use Mechotech plants for consistent, compliant production.
Who supplies basil oil extraction plants and equipment?
Mechotech is a basil oil extraction plant manufacturer and equipment supplier, engineering and fabricating the complete distillation line — still, condenser, Florentine separator, and drying — at our Hyderabad facility for buyers in India and export markets.
How is Basil essential oil produced in Mechotech's distillation plant?
The Basil charge is cleaned and sorted, loaded into an SS 316L still and distilled by steam, hydro, vacuum or pressure distillation chosen for the volatility and heat-sensitivity of the oil. Vapours are condensed in a multi-tube condenser, the oil is separated from the hydrosol in a Florentine flask, then polish-filtered, dried and released after GC-MS and physical-parameter testing. The line sits within Mechotech's Leaves Oils Distillation Plants range.
Where are Mechotech's other basil plants?
This page covers distillation of basil leaves into essential oil. For CO₂ extraction of basil leaf oil see Basil Leaf Oil (CO₂); for holy basil (Tulsi) see Holy Basil.
What is Basil and what is its botanical source?
Basil is sourced from Ocimum basilicum. The plant part listed for this line is leaves. Mechotech configures the plant to the buyer's target specification, confirmed by batch-release testing, rather than to a fixed percentage.
Has Mechotech delivered a distillation plant on a similar feedstock to Basil?
Yes, on a related feedstock. Mechotech's delivered Patchouli Essential Oil Distillation Plant runs the same steam-distillation route — conditioning, size reduction, steam distillation, condensation, Florentine oil separation, oil filtration and vacuum polishing — on a leaf feedstock. Process parameters for Basil are established during process development and pilot validation.
Does Mechotech list other pages for the same raw material?
Yes. This page covers leaves oils distillation plants for Basil. Related catalogue pages: Basil Leaf Oil (CO₂) — Herbal Extraction Plants.
