Manufacturing Process

Each extraction method follows a different process — pick a method to see its steps.

1

Raw-Material Preparation

Asparagus roots are washed and size-reduced so fructans can be reached by the extraction medium; particle size and moisture are set during process development.

2

Vessel Loading & Pressurisation

Prepared Asparagus roots and water are loaded into a pressure-rated extraction vessel.

3

Subcritical Water Extraction

Water held liquid under pressure at elevated temperature extracts fructans without an organic solvent; temperature and residence time are set to limit thermal degradation and hydrolysis.

4

Separation

Spent roots are separated by filtration or centrifugation and the extract is clarified before concentration.

5

Concentration

The clarified aqueous extract is concentrated under vacuum or by membrane systems where required; no organic solvent is used in this route.

6

Recovery, Standardisation & Drying

The fructans fraction is recovered from the concentrate by a route selected during process development and checked against the target specification; drying behaviour is verified because polysaccharide-type targets can be heat-sensitive.

Major Plant Equipment

  • Raw-material cleaning and size-reduction system
  • Pressure-rated hot-water extraction vessel
  • High-pressure water pump and heat exchangers
  • Filtration / centrifugation system
  • Vacuum evaporator
  • Membrane concentration unit (where required)
  • Dryer (where a dried form is specified)
  • CIP (clean-in-place) system
  • Storage and finished-product tanks
  • PLC-SCADA control panel and instrumentation

Plant Output

Asparagus extract — 40% saponins by Gravimetry

Applications

  • Pharmaceutical standardised ingredient supply
  • Nutraceutical capsule, tablet, and supplement manufacturing
  • Food, flavour, and beverage applications
  • Cosmetic and personal care active ingredients
  • Ayurvedic and traditional medicine preparations
  • Export to regulated-market ingredient buyers

Key Features

  • GMP Hygienic SS 316L Construction

Electropolished SS 316L product-contact surfaces use GMP hygienic design, with CIP operation between batches.

  • Water-Based Subcritical Route

The subcritical water route uses pressurised water rather than an organic solvent; where a solvent step is part of the saponin-standardised grade, solvent is recovered and returned to the process.

  • Standardised to Specification

In-process and batch-release assay are used to check the finished Asparagus extract against its declared specification (40% saponins by Gravimetry).

  • Integrated Drying

A matched spray/vacuum dryer produces a free-flowing, low-moisture powder ready for encapsulation and blending.

  • Scalable Batch Capacity

Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Asparagus extraction plant?
It is a turnkey Mechotech plant for asparagus roots, with fructans as the target extract. The candidate technologies are Subcritical Water Extraction (SWE); the final route is confirmed through process development and pilot validation. It sits within Mechotech's wider range of herbal extraction plants.
Which feedstock and target extract does the Asparagus plant cover?
The listed feedstock is Asparagus roots. The target extract is fructans.
Does Mechotech supply the complete machinery for Asparagus?
Yes. Mechotech supplies the complete turnkey plant for Asparagus — engineered, fabricated at our Hyderabad facility, installed and commissioned as a single integrated system.
What specification can the Asparagus plant achieve?
The catalogue lists 40% saponins by Gravimetry for this extract. The plant is configured to the client’s target specification; the specification achieved is established during process development and pilot validation, and batch-release testing with certificate-of-analysis documentation is defined with the client.
What production capacities are available for the Asparagus plant?
Mechotech builds Asparagus plants from pilot systems for product development to commercial-scale plants. Capacity is selected from raw-material supply, confirmed buyer volume, and investment timeline; we recommend a pilot plant to validate parameters before scaling.
Which industries use the Asparagus plant?
Pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food and flavour, cosmetic, and fragrance manufacturers use Mechotech plants for consistent, compliant production.
Which extraction technology is a candidate for Asparagus roots?
For Asparagus roots with fructans as the target, the candidate technology is Subcritical Water Extraction (SWE). See the related pages on subcritical water extraction. These are screening candidates, not guarantees of yield, purity or recovery; the route is confirmed through process development and pilot validation. In Mechotech's technology screening, Subcritical Water Extraction (rank 90 of 100) is ranked directionally as an exploratory candidate. Ranks are directional screening priorities at method-family level, not measured yield, ROI or plant guarantees. The 40% saponins specification on this page is unchanged; subcritical water extraction is the candidate technology for the fructan target.
How does the Asparagus extraction process work?
Each listed technology has its own process tab on this page (Subcritical Water (SWE)). The steps run from raw-material preparation and extraction through separation, concentration or recovery and standardisation, with parameters set during process development and pilot validation.
What equipment does the Asparagus extraction plant include?
The equipment follows the selected route and includes raw-material cleaning and size-reduction system; pressure-rated hot-water extraction vessel; high-pressure water pump and heat exchangers; filtration / centrifugation system; vacuum evaporator; membrane concentration unit (where required); dryer (where a dried form is specified); CIP (clean-in-place) system. The full list is shown under Major Plant Equipment.
Which related Mechotech extraction pages cover the same material or target?
Fructan extraction is also covered for agave core. Asparagus racemosus is covered on the Shatavari page.
Is a pilot trial recommended for Asparagus roots extraction?
Yes. Mechotech's technology screening recommends starting with small-scale feed trials to measure recovery, selectivity, solvent or water duty, quality and cleaning before pilot and commercial plant sizes are fixed; capacity is configured to requirement.
