Total Saponins & Bitters by Gravimetry
Mechotech designs and manufactures turnkey extraction plants for Tinospora cordifolia (Guduchi/Giloy), processing the cleaned stem — the commercial plant part carrying the herb's characteristic bitter principles and saponins — into an extract standardised to Total Saponins & Bitters by Gravimetry. Tinospora's stem chemistry combines bitter diterpenoid lactones (such as tinosporide-type compounds), alkaloids, and saponin glycosides, and Mechotech's line is engineered specifically to recover this bitter-and-saponin fraction on a gravimetric assay basis for the immunomodulatory nutraceutical and Ayurvedic industries. We supply the complete machinery — stem cleaning, size reduction, hydro-alcoholic extraction, filtration, vacuum concentration, closed-loop solvent recovery, standardisation and drying — as a single turnkey system.
Mechotech's Tinospora cordifolia plant is engineered around the processing requirements of Guduchi stem, a comparatively fibrous, woody raw material that requires more aggressive size reduction and longer extraction contact time than soft-tissue botanicals to liberate its bitter and saponin fractions. Hydro-alcoholic extraction in closed jacketed SS 316L vessels is used to co-recover the bitter principles and saponin glycosides, and the concentrate is assayed gravimetrically and standardised to the declared Total Saponins & Bitters specification before drying. Built with integrated solvent recovery, automation, and full batch documentation, each plant is delivered as a commissioned turnkey system to GMP and HACCP standards.

Manufacturing Process
Raw Material Reception & Cleaning
Tinospora cordifolia stem is authenticated, cleaned of bark fragments and foreign matter, tested for moisture, and graded before processing.
Size Reduction
Cleaned stem — a comparatively fibrous, woody raw material — is cut and milled to a uniform particle size sufficient to expose the internal bitter- and saponin-bearing tissue for solvent contact.
Hydro-Alcoholic Extraction
Milled stem is extracted with a hydro-alcoholic solvent system in closed jacketed SS 316L extractors under controlled temperature and extended, multiple cycles appropriate to the woody matrix, co-recovering the bitter diterpenoid and saponin glycoside fractions.
Filtration
The crude extract is clarified through pressure leaf or plate-and-frame filter presses followed by cartridge polish filters to remove fibrous stem residue before concentration.
Vacuum Concentration & Solvent Recovery
The filtered extract is concentrated in a falling-film / vacuum evaporator at controlled temperature, with solvent recovered, condensed and recycled through the condenser return system.
Standardisation
The concentrate is assayed gravimetrically and adjusted to the declared Total Saponins & Bitters by Gravimetry specification before drying.
Drying & Quality Control
The standardised Tinospora extract is spray- or vacuum-dried to a free-flowing powder, then released after gravimetric assay, residual-solvent, heavy-metal, microbial, and moisture testing with full certificate-of-analysis documentation.

Key Features
GMP Hygienic SS 316L Construction
Electropolished SS 316L product-contact surfaces use GMP hygienic design, with CIP operation between batches.
Extended-Cycle Extraction for Woody Stem
Extraction cycles and hold times are set longer than for soft-tissue botanicals to fully liberate bitters and saponins from Tinospora's fibrous stem matrix.
Closed-Loop Solvent Recovery
Integrated recovery returns solvent for reuse each batch, reducing fresh-solvent consumption.
Gravimetric Standardisation
In-process and batch-release gravimetric assay are used to check the finished extract against its declared Total Saponins & Bitters specification.
Integrated Drying
A matched spray/vacuum dryer produces a free-flowing, low-moisture powder ready for encapsulation and blending.
Scalable Batch Capacity
Plants are configured to requirement from pilot scale upward, with modular expansion.
